I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and blend evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
I work with couples to manage distress and overwhelm within their relationship. With a balanced perspective, I empower partners to strengthen their connection and deepen intimacy. I am also passionate about supporting individuals through the challenges of the perinatal journey, such as prenatal anxiety, pregnancy loss, infertility and postpartum depression. I work with adults navigating the varied stages of life. Whether it's helping clients cope with trauma, process grief and loss, navigate chronic illness and pain, or address the shadows of depression and anxiety, I consider it a privilege to accompany clients on this journey.

I believe in taking a warm, nonjudgmental, collaborative approach to therapy; I truly believe that you are the expert of your experience and I am here to help as a coach and support you in reaching your goals. I approach therapy as both an art and a science; the art of human connection and the science of evidenced-based therapies such as CBT, DBT and ACT that have been proven to work. I am also a social worker at heart and like to bring in understanding of our society to help people of color, LGBTQ+ folks and other marginalized communities feel empowered to navigate and cope with the impact of these systems of today's world.

I believe in creating a safe space where anyone could be vulnerable and recover the strengths from their different identities, while building a meaningful, empathetic, and collaborative relationship, based on trust, respect and acceptance.
Life events, many out of our control, such as trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, immigration, systemic oppression, and colonialism, might impact your wellbeing and mental health. I am a licensed clinical counselor with New Insights Behavioral Health Services. I focus my work on young adults to elderly, including couples, men’s issues, domestic violence, and acculturation stress. I use evidenced-based therapies, adapting them to address the needs of my clients, to provide treatment for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexual identity, anger, trauma, grief and psychoeducation in group and individual settings.

My hope is that through therapy clients attain a clearer understanding of themselves in the context of their life experiences and are able to work through challenges with kindness and acceptance.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative partnership through which clients further develop and enhance their abilities and strengths. My hope is that clients become more cognizant of the internal and external elements that influence their well-being, and serve as energizers and/or drainers in their functioning across various settings. I work with clients to explore their wishes, clarify their goals, and create and implement plans to attain their objectives. In the process, I provide clients support and encouragement in a manner that is genuine, straightforward, thoughtful, and non-judgmental.

I have been trained in structured, evidence-based approaches to therapeutic work. Most importantly, I prioritize making sure that you feel validated, understood, and heard. From there, I primarily ground myself in cognitive behavioral approaches to therapy, also drawing from dialectical behavioral skills and approaches grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy. I also believe psychological assessment is a unique skill which can help clarify symptoms, inform treatment, and help access necessary supportive services.

I use an array of scientifically proven approaches to therapy (including CBT, Psychodynamic, DBT, ACT, and Relational) to provide support.
In periods of overwhelming feelings and emotions, we might find ourselves consumed by the noise in our minds. Whether the noise is negative thoughts of the past, present, or future, it all can become so loud that we lose sight of what’s important to us. We lose sight of our resilience, values, present moment, others around us, or even ourselves. We might even find ourselves feeling and behaving inconsistently to who we are or want to be during these periods that we might call anxiety or depression. As your therapist, I will support you in understanding and learning how to respond to these experiences.

I individualize treatment using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic frameworks.
Distress, discomfort, and change are often behind life's most challenging moments. However, with support, these moments can serve as catalysts for significant growth. I work with young adults, adults, and adolescents who are dealing with a variety of stressors, including symptoms of anxiety and depression, life transitions, family conflict, relationship issues, and identity exploration. I partner with clients to become curious about the patterns that may be appearing in their lives, discover and implement new coping strategies, and move forward with greater intention.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
