In this journey, you will learn to recreate a relationship with yourself and the world around you with love and acceptance.
I am here for you and with you. You are many things to many people in your life. You are a partner, parent, grandparent, friend, professional, neighbor, but who are you to yourself? How are you taking care of you? Are you taking time for yourself, without guilt, to work towards your personal, emotional, physical, psychological, and professional goals? As we navigate our experiences and choices in life, we often carry complex feelings and unresolved baggage. These feelings become unbearable at times. Fear, doubt, insecurities, and worry can take a hold of us, resulting in us neglecting ourselves and repeating the same patterns

Throughout our lives, we carry within us the voices, the gaze, acceptance or disapproval, the expectations, and the praise or criticism of those who have raised us and occupied our lives. Therapy can help us discover and clarify these powerful experiences and grow in our understanding of how they motivate us, giving us freedom to make more authentic decisions in our daily lives. I view therapy as an opportunity to heal, receive support, solve problems, improve relationships, and escape problems and patterns that seem to reappear over time.

The ABCs of positive mental health are Acceptance, Belonging, Connectedness, and Security.
One afternoon I told my wife that after another tour, I would be leaving the U.S. Coast Guard for a very different career. Serving my country and the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard is one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life. After serving nine years I knew that directly assisting and serving people is the life-giving work of my heart. I became a Social Worker and therapist because it is my greatest joy and pleasure to support you as you unify all your strengths and gifts to release your Faith, Hope, and Love into society.

I use a variety of sound, therapeutic techniques from cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment, and EMDR therapies as appropriate.
Are you struggling with depression/anxiety, loneliness, divorce, abuse, miscarriage/infertility, grief, rejection, fear, self-destruction, isolation, lack of focus, lack of direction, etc? Many of our troubling thoughts and feelings come from beliefs we developed early on from difficult and painful experiences that went unprocessed. I can help you identify what is holding you back, where these beliefs came from, and how to heal so you can grow, engage and thrive! Want to feel better, but don’t know how to get there? I use assessment tools to help determine where you are struggling, & track progress along the way.

In this world, people lack kindness and compassion, acceptance of each other for who you are.
Why do you think people turn to psychologists? Because they want to change their lives. People want changes. If you feel the need for change, I can help you with this, because I studied at the Department of Neuro and Patho Psychology and I know how the cognitive functions of the brain work and how the unconscious is formed, which stores hidden files that prevent a person from development and adaptation. Step by step the road will be mastered by the walking. Let’s go.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
