You can expect that I will meet you with warmth and acceptance as we begin to craft a specific road to your recovery.
Painful experiences can leave us at a crossroads or discouraged about our faith when breakthrough has yet to occur. Have you been feeling “stuck” in negative thoughts? Ruminating thoughts and triggers are common responses to trauma and anxiety. Battling these distressing responses is not only difficult but exhausting. Trying to understand the role faith plays can be confusing. I am passionate about normalizing what you are going through and identifying barriers that are preventing you from living life fully. Everyone responds differently to distressing experiences and therefore have unique needs within the healing process.

Trauma, anxiety, and addiction can make you feel stuck. The most important step towards healing is to address the unresolved emotion inside you. Healing requires feelings. Acceptance slowly dissolves pain. When we function from the fear and scarring of our trauma, the cycles continue until we learn how to transmute that energy into love. I apply a Holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual forms of well-being, addressing the “whole” self. Through a holistic framework tailored to your unique needs, the goal is to support you develop a deeper understanding of the self on all these levels.

My approach is warm, inviting, direct and attuned. I meet my clients with interest, non-judgment, and respect. I believe that change flows easiest from self-acceptance, and that self-acceptance is nurtured through the telling, the listening, and the embodied expressions of our lives. I am driven by a profound sense that individual and community care are interwoven, and that healing is a process of mourning and meaning-making.

I also provide therapy for all ages to offer support to those struggling with navigating difficult emotions or experiencing challenges with behavioral or emotional regulation, making or maintaining relationships, building effective psychological flexibility, understanding or becoming your most authentic self, disability awareness/acceptance, and more.
I believe that we all have a unique brain narrative and the more you know about yourself, the more engaged you can be in creating a life that stays true to your authentic self. Gaining an understanding of your emotional, behavioral, and cognitive narrative can provide insights about your work/career development, learning, relationships, and beyond. Assessment allows you to understand your strengths and weaknesses and better understand how your brain processes information. Similarly, therapy is an experience that allows you to expand your knowledge base, skillset, and understanding of your world.

I use a variety of therapeutic orientations based on my client’s personality and needs, including CBT, EFT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness and Art Therapy.
Knowledge is Power. Being in therapy empowers you through a healthy and joyful exploration about yourself and the world around you. Life can seem tough sometimes. We might feel helpless and hopeless. We might feel alone and fragile. Managing stress while dealing with anxiety and depression may seem overwhelming. If any of this applies to you, therapy could be the first step for self development and managing your life. And I am here for YOU!

Navigating relationships, conflict and attachment issues can be challenging. Coping with anxiety/depression, and confronting life's unexpected challenges can add to the overwhelm of daily life. It's important that you connect with a provider who's dedicated to your goals and helping you achieve the understanding, acceptance and change you need. I am licensed in New York and California, and work exclusively with adults (individually, couples, and executives). My work is entirely evidenced-based and my approach is empathically direct and resolutely dedicated to your success.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
