Our quality of life is determined by the quality of our relationships. Whatever your goals may be, change is an inside job, and I'm here to be both a witness and a resource in that complex process. When we can let go of shame and judgments around emotions, we allow space to cultivate more curiosity, compassion, acceptance, resiliency, and joy. When we utilize mistakes as informational gifts we can strengthen and clarify the authentic self. I would like to help you meet this self.

Based on client’s needs, treatment modalities may include: Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) trauma informed therapies such as EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT, as well as mind-body methods such as mindfulness, movement, and somatic experience.
Balancing the demands of life, relationships, career, family, and the changes in the world around us can be challenging. Having someone who can provide a space to be heard, as well as paths to becoming our best selves as we balance these demands can be life-changing. My approach is to understand the needs of each client and provide a welcoming space where they feel safe and heard, while utilizing evidence-based psychotherapy practices to make changes that support greater happiness and life satisfaction for clients.

It is a courageous act to take the first step in pursuing therapy, and I feel honored to assist those beginning this process. My goal in working with people is to help cultivate the balance between finding grace in being present with life experiences, and the motivation to create meaningful changes in one’s life. If you are looking to begin the work of introspection and crafting the story of your life that you want to live, whether it may be in the areas of developing emotional coping skills or improving your relationships, I am here to help.

Over the last 9 years, I have helped many people find peace by evolving patterns of all-or-nothing thinking, perfectionism, or codependence into balance, acceptance, and interdependence.
Do you feel anxious, frustrated, or overwhelmed living within this CIS gendered binary restrictive patriarchal society? You do not have to continue to feel this way. I can help you expand your breadth of coping tools, communication techniques, and other skills that could help bring relief.

I enjoy working with adults, couples, and teenagers with an emphasis on mindfulness, self-acceptance, inner child work, and coping skills training.
Therapy is guided self-exploration. Often, we repeat patterns because the emotional wounds suffered as children are being replayed in our adult life. We have a subconscious fear of experiencing feelings of abandonment and this drives codependent patterns of relating. Repeated neglect of yourself to get validation from an external being is the definition of codependency. You can break this cycle of trauma bonding and devote yourself to YOU.

I use a combination of support, encouragement, guidance, and accountability, through ACT, CBT, and other therapeutic models.
The pressure of being a woman in today’s society can be challenging, even for the most successful. The idea that we have to “do it all” in order to “have it all” can be overwhelming. Each stage of a woman's life can present a different set of challenges. Are you struggling as you are entering into adulthood or find retirement to be a challenge? Somewhere in-between? Do you feel guilty because you chose a career over a family, or a family over a career? Maybe you chose both but feel you are not living up to your or everyone else's expectations? Do you feel like part of your life is missing but you are not sure how to find it?

You may be finding yourself in a place of time where your life’s situation or way of thinking has exceeded your ability to cope. During these instances, the struggle to connect to yourself or others may feel harder to do. You are not alone in this. In each of our own ways the experience of “feeling off” can exist. All the while, we are connected by the human ability to find resilience and grow through conditions that promote value, care, and acceptance. My hope is that by unpacking these moments, we may strengthen the quality of relationships- with both ourselves and others for a better future.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
