I also utilize many tenants of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and attachment theory.
I believe to fully understand another person and what they’re struggling with, we must understand their environment and lived experience. In therapy, we will explore how various systems and environments have impacted your lived experiences and in turn, how your experiences have shaped the way you think, feel, and act. I believe we must truly know ourselves in order to grow and thrive.

I enjoy connecting with clients by using a down-to-earth approach (and a little humor at times) to achieve the very best outcomes from therapy. I work with adults on a variety of concerns, including (but not limited to): anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, college stress, phase of life concerns, divorce, blended family concerns, anger management, serious acute/chronic illness, ADHD, grief/loss, and trauma/PTSD. I am LGBTQ+ allied. I also enjoy working with corrections employees, law enforcement, firefighters, EMT, dispatch, and professionals in ER settings. We are all a work in progress!

Together we’ll chart a course based on your unique goals, strengths, and challenges, using evidence-based therapies (such as ACT, EMDR, DBT, compassion-focused approaches, and/or sleep interventions), and oriented toward the life you most want to live.
Life is hard. For some, it’s anxiety. For others, depression. Trauma or other distressing experiences that feel more present than past. Struggles with food. An inner-critic driving you to exhaustion or resignation. Not believing you are capable of what you want in life, or fear stopping you in your tracks. Relationship problems, disconnection, or loneliness. Sleep problems. Not liking who you see in the mirror. Feeling unlovable, unworthy, or not good enough. Coping in ways that just don’t work – or maybe even make things worse. Life can be hard in so many ways. But you are not alone, and you don’t have to go it alone.

Hello Beautiful People! I enjoy seeing all ages, adults, children, and teens. I see both non-traumatized people, who are usually dealing with anxiety and issues with mood, and people who experienced trauma, who deal with pain and many complexities of distress. I believe people get to where they want to if they just keep trying and do not give up. I would call that growing. I believe people want to feel regarded, respected, like they belong, and satisfied about something in their lives. I like to partner with people to create a map of how to untangle the knots, dislodge the stuck places, and move through obstacles to feeling better.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
