Do you find that difficult emotions lead you to avoid, procrastinate, or steer away from the things that matter most to you? As a clinical psychologist, I can offer another approach: flexibility, self-compassion, and moving towards your values even in the face of emotional distress. Together, we will identify unhelpful patterns that are not working for you and practice new ways of coping that will help you meet your goals. I use evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, ERT, Compassion Focused Therapy and Somatic psychotherapy to integrate the mind and body.
Life's bright spots waxes and wanes, especially if you who have felt invalidated throughout your life and may come from historically marginalized backgrounds. Perhaps your suffering has led to a piqued interest in a commitment to healing and working through life's challenges. My mission is to honor your humanity and work with you if you felt unsafe to be you. and you have one or more marginalized identities. I work with BIPOC and LGBTQA+ people, acculturative stress survivors, people with underlying and chronic medical conditions, and people outside of mainstream faiths.

Engaging in the therapeutic process can be an incredibly rewarding act of self care. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed with life’s challenges or be struggling to understand our reactions and emotions. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of life’s daily challenges, and not take the time to step back and try to ease the worry. By allowing yourself the time, you can begin to renew a sense of empowerment while also reducing feelings of distress.

Most importantly, I offer: a space of safety, a heart-centered connection, empathy, non-judgment and compassion, total acceptance of who and where you are, collaboration (acting as a guide, not any expert), humor and authenticity (I am a human first, therapist second).
There's nothing wrong with you. You’re not broken, though I honor if you feel this way. I am passionate about guiding clients to restore their sense of wholeness by releasing the painful emotions/beliefs (some which are subconscious) that are contributing to issues such as anxiety/phobias, depression, harmful and limiting patterns/behaviors, emotional dysregulation, PTSD, feeling stuck/lost, low self-esteem, addiction, chronic pain/illness, etc etc.

I utilize techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you become more comfortable with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings and correct maladaptive patterns of thought and behavior.
Accepting New Clients Now. Taking the step to start therapy can often be overwhelming and intimidating, but it is also empowering. Too often we do not put ourselves first. This is a time and a space to focus on you. I hope to be an empathetic partner on this journey with you. I believe that therapy is most successful when there is a collaborative, working relationship between therapist and client. I work with adults, both individuals and couples who are navigating life's many complexities including relationship struggles, grief and loss, infertility/pregnancy loss, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and more.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
