Grief. Though rarely sought out is a capacity as necessary to our emotional and communal well-being as the ability to love. It is above all a human process. Grief is not meant to be endured in isolation. And intentional, conscious grieving is a skill that many of us must learn. Providing support and guidance in this process is both an honor and a calling and something which continues to inspire me towards a greater learning.
I work with grief of all kinds: Death and loss, divorce / breakups, illness, terminal illness, missing persons, suicide, relational / familial grief, environmental grief, and also provide grief education.
Grief shapes us in many ways. It is physical, emotional, mental, spiritual. And is a transformative process if we allow it. While something both learned and discovered, the capacity of grief is to connect us to ourselves, our relationships, and to life in a deeper, more honest manner. Its invitation is to orient us towards truth, compassion, and connection.
Grief is often a hard won, messy, and imperfect journey. An endurance event. As one who has learned grief through my own experiences of devastation (as well as professionally), I believe that I am not able to take anyone where I have not been myself. And continue to learn, grow, teach, and be widened by this thing called living and dying.
