I'm Aaron, I work with teens and adults ages 12 and up. I specialize in ADHD, Tics, anxiety, drug and alcohol use, and PTSD. My counseling style blends the need for building stronger skills for managing distress while also exploring the deeper issues driving the behavior to begin with: understanding where this behavior comes from, what do I need to accept and what can I actually change, and what does this mean for me, my family, and my future. I have found that without the deeper work, the practical skills rarely stick for very long.
What you can expect in our sessions is that we will always have a goal we are working toward. Whether we choose to work toward practicing coping skills, EMDR, or deeper exploration will be discussed at the outset of each session and we will use the entire 60 minutes. For teens, I spend 45 minutes with them and the first or last 15 with the parents.
