A question I regularly get is, "What is Therapy?" "What does it do?" If you ask 100 therapists, you may get as many different answers. My take on therapy is that it is a space where you can lay out your problems and difficulties in a way that they begin to feel more manageable, then develop insights and new perspectives on how to address these problems. Essentially, it provides a new way to look at your challenges and the knowledge and insight to overcome them.
I approach therapy from a whole-person perspective, taking into consideration the many contexts that make up a person's life: health habits and conditions, relationships, career, spirituality, and others. I meet people where they are and what they want to focus on. This might be short-term work focusing on immediate goals, or more ongoing support.
