Growing up, I was inspired by the uniqueness of the human story. This fascination led me to obtain a Master’s degree in counseling psychology. My mission is to provide a safe, confidential and meaningful therapy experience. My specialty has been working with adolescents and their families for close to 20 years regarding various issues that come up for both the teenager themselves and within the family system. My experience spans inpatient, residential, and community-based programs, as well as private practice. I believe that treating clients in these vastly different environments has enriched the quality of my work and my perspective on life. I use an integrative approach to therapy that is based on your unique strengths, individual needs, and circumstances.

As a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist I am able to provide couples, families, and individuals with the highest trained EFT therapists in Alaska. As a Jungian analyst, I work with persons facing moments of spiritual and psychological crisis or blockage, as they seek bridges to new life. Together we try to penetrate stuck places in the individual's life story to discover deeper meaning. Imagination is central in all Jungian work, and my practice sees the challenges of life symbolically, not just as obstacles but as possibilities for creative dialogue and transformation. Through work with dreams, fantasies, and memories we reimagine problems and create a path for life to move forward.

Change can be difficult. My main goal is to provide a safe, well-supported, and welcoming space for individuals to explore within, learn about themselves more deeply, and heal from the source of their problems. We all have the tools to heal ourselves, the question is how to access them. I also provide the option for psychodiagnostic and neuropsychological testing for individuals who are seeking clarity in their diagnoses, suffering from cognitive impairment, or those who may benefit from increased access and support in the community.

I work with clients whose psychological issues cross the boundaries between brain, body, mind, and spirit. Special interests are the broad spectrum of ADHD and related brain differences, and the anxiety caused by living with these in a misunderstanding culture. My approach integrates mindfulness practices, attention and working memory training, and depth psychology.

I have been lucky enough to have worked in a variety of settings giving me unique insight to critical life situations such as: divorce, loss of a loved one, legal issues, family members with severe mental illness.

My journey started in 1999 by using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), created by Dr. Sue Johnson, to save me and my wife's marriage. We had been married 12 years when I asked my wife for a divorce. It was not a request I made lightly. I had only come to this point as a means of desperation from seeing the pain she was in and how I really felt my pain was because of who I was. This was when my wife, out of desperation, searched to find a way for us to get help to save our marriage.

With my background in fitness and physical therapy of patients with chronic pain and as a substance abuse counselor, I am convinced that every individual has the desire to be seen, heard and understood. I do believe that I have been uniquely wired to provide insight, acceptance, understanding and support when life gets hard, lonely or confusing. A good portion of what I offer is to help you understand & express your feelings, needs, desires, longings and hope in a safe tranquil environment. I desire to help build relationships between parents and their adolescents so that parents have a real connection to their adolescents. I have experience with walking beside adolescents, couples, families, and individuals who are ready for deeper connections with themselves and the relationships closest to them. My genuine longing is to see restored relationships. As a Humanistic Therapist, I see the connection between a person's mind, body, and emotions as their greatest healing tool. I have been fortunate to have worked in the mental health and behavioral health fields since 1999 and have practiced as a therapist since 2006. I have worked with women in abusive relationships, homeless populations, individuals struggling with opiod dependence and individuals suffering from chronic medical illness. I have also worked residential treatment with children and adolescents and outpatient with children, adolescents, couples and families. I currently prefer to work with ages 12-adult in my practice. I see clients via teletherapy who live in Alaska and Oregon. I am licensed in both states, but reside in Alaska.
