When we experience traumatic, intense or habitual stressors, we tend to wear down over time. Realizing something needs to change, we reach out for help. It has become my life's passion to provide help and relief in the lives of those individuals ready for change. I collaborate with my client to find his or her own answers. I believe, that we already know what the answers are to our unique challenges. Sometimes we simply need someone to help guide us through the process of discovering those answers.

Healing is hard work. and change comes from doing the hard things. My client would be someone who is willing to work hard to improve their life and circumstances, but who also has a good sense of humor and can laugh about the challenges and setbacks that come with life. They would be open and honest, willing to talk openly and honestly about their experiences. They would be resilient and have the ability to find humor in difficult situations, as well as the capacity to find joy in life's small moments.

Telehealth Counseling and Coaching throughout the US. While working with people, I help them work through the process of engagement, healing, and growth. My initial approach is to see the greatness of a person. I work with people to help them see their own greatness noting that their behaviors do not define them. The behavior is unhealthy, not the person. Who a person is at the core is always great, healthy, and beautiful. As we pull apart maladaptive behaviors from the individual, I help people become actively engaged in their own therapeutic process beginning a journey of healing and growth.

On the outside, you may appear strong, capable, and “fine.” But inside, you might feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. Maybe you overthink everything, struggle to relax, or carry experiences that still affect you more than you’d like. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, relationship stress, or major life transitions, you don’t have to figure it out alone. At Mend Counseling Services, we provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, understand what you’re feeling, and begin to feel more grounded, clear, and in control of your life.

Hello! I am a mother, partner, seamstress, berry picker, and writer. I have a passion for helping people with phase of life transitions (e.g., early adulthood, perimenopause, menopause). These transitions may involve cognition, mood, and behavior symptoms that can get in the way of goals and healthy relationships with yourself and others. Neuropsychological evaluations are a piece of the puzzle in understanding the unique strengths and challenges your brain is experiencing. Psychotherapy can offer a path toward greater awareness of depression/anxiety, relationship challenges, day-to-day barriers and fulfillment with life.

Experiential Play Therapy is a model of play therapy with a strong belief in the child’s quest for health. Only the child knows their particular perceptions of their life’s dilemmas. Therefore, in Experiential Play Therapy, the child is allowed to be the director of the play. In that process, they will utilize toys and their own creativity to recreate their experience in an environment that enables them to approach their struggles so that they are able to regain the power that has been lost in the actual event or environment. The therapist becomes a partner in the child’s quest, assuming whatever role the child requests.

Everyone has their own mountains to climb, and dark nights to get through in this life. I believe that seeking and accepting support is the key to conquering any obstacle. Therapy is a courageous step towards embracing personal growth and harnessing inner strength. Drawing from my experience, I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a person-centered, strengths-based approach in my practice. I am also trained in EMDR. These evidence-based modalities provide a solid foundation for fostering transformative change and equipping individuals with the tools they need to overcome personal hurdles.

The experience of anxiety, depression, trauma, and everyday stressors can create real barriers to feeling grounded, connected, and fulfilled.
Many of us carry our stories quietly, unsure of how to make sense of them. We can lose touch with the deeper parts of who we are. It can feel like we become subject to the busyness, overwhelm, and demands of daily life. Taking hold of how we show up in our lives, work, and relationships often requires some help.

We live in a culture that encourages us not to take our own suffering seriously, but rather to make light of it, even laugh about it. What is more, this attitude is regarded as a virtue, and many people are proud of thier lack of sensitivity to their own fate, particularly, thier fate as a child. Alice Miller

I am passionate about helping people learn to use "curiosity instead of judgment", "give themselves time and grace", and to recognize and understand "that no one can do better until they know better". These three principles have allowed me to help many individuals make life-altering changes at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed or pressured. Many people live their lives attempting to avoid challenging themselves due to fears of failure or letting others down. This can lead to feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, being stuck, anxiousness, depression, and regret. It doesn't have to be this way.

Do you go through the motions of life feeling stressed, anxious, exhausted, angry, or sad? Do you feel numb or worry about things that haven’t even happened yet? “Why did I say that”? "What's wrong with me?"What if it happens again"? "Why me"? The conflicts you feel - with yourself, your relationships, and life, are sapping your energy and robbing you of joy. Maybe you've tried dealing with it on your own- maybe in healthy ways and some not, and yet it remains. You feel exhausted and powerless. "Will it be like this forever?" It certainly could be -but it doesn't have to be. You are not alone, I can help.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
