I am deeply passionate about helping people feel better and experience RELIEF from intense emotional pain and suffering. As a therapist, I am no stranger to deep suffering. In fact, it has been the single most powerful catalyst to who I have become, personally and professionally. Nobody escapes trauma in this life. To be human is to suffer. But we can learn how to manage and navigate the things we can't control. We can HEAL from our pain. We can rise from the most desperate of circumstances. We can become FREE. I carry a continual burning torch of hope and light for every sacred person I sit with. I believe in you.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) has been called "The Doubting Disease," and is characterized by relentless doubts, fears, “irrational” worries, and at its worst, terror and psychological torment. People with OCD experience doubts and fears which usually focus on whatever they most care about or highly value, such as their most important relationships, their moral character, their health or the health and well-being of those they care about. Sufferers use mental or behavioral rituals that provide temporary relief from the obsession, which become compulsions that can be painful in and of themselves.

Do you experience feelings of sadness or hopelessness? Are you having problems in your relationships, at work or with your loved ones, your partner or your children? Perhaps areas of your life no longer seem as satisfying as they once did. I believe that as we navigate the waters of life, we are constantly adjusting to the subtle and profound changes put before us. How we experience those changes, as sadness or hopelessness, loss or opportunity, with sadness or joy determines the course we will follow. How we move forward is unique and personal, yet no one needs to navigate the journey alone.

During significant life transitions, feelings of groundlessness can arise, often manifesting as anxiety, loneliness, relational distress, low self-worth, or insecurity. While these feelings can be deeply distressing, they also present a unique opportunity to explore and understand ourselves in profound new ways.

Lovejoy Therapy is the name of my private practice, one of my personal dreams coming to life of being able to show up for others. I believe as humans we all face challenges and many of us face trauma that has an impact on us throughout our entire lives and can keep us from living the lives we dream of. These concerns can be the things that hold us back from living our life fully or being able to create a life we believe is worth living. In my practice with clients, I attempt to help people discover a way for themselves to find health, move forward and start thriving instead of surviving.

If you’ve ever felt lost, confused, or disconnected, you may also know what it feels like to bring those vulnerable feelings to someone you trusted only to be met with dismissive, invalidating, judgmental, or even downright hateful comments. I believe that the cornerstone of healing is in relation to others and aim to provide a space where you can feel free to ask yourself any question and share any part of you- especially the parts that have been rejected- by you or others.

Times of uncertainty often draw our attention to our fears and anxieties, but they also illuminate the things that are most important to us. Whether you’re wanting to learn more about yourself; worrying about your child’s well-being; suffering the loss of a loved one; processing abuse or trauma; experiencing a major life transition; feeling unsatisfied in your relationships; or are just wanting more out of life, therapy may be a great place to start.

Tired of starting with eMail and ending up watching porn half the night? Tired of finding yourself in a strip club or adult bookstore when you were on your way to Home Depot, or, worse yet, to the kids' sporting event? Tired of lying? Keeping secrets? I'd like to help you find freedom from pornography and other forms of sex addiction. The reason is simple: life is full of opportunities to flourish, but addictive behaviors can hijack the ability to engage in those opportunities. Don't settle for less.

I enjoy supporting children and families through play therapy, art therapy (and sometimes talk therapy too)! I believe in the resilience and strength of children and their families. I believe that children process the world through play, art and movement as much as, if not more than, they do through words. I believe in the power of play to help children make sense of their experiences and struggles and move toward positive change. I believe in the power of play to help families reconnect and build strong alliances with one another.

I primarily work with people who are working to overcome porn addictions, are struggling with self-worth, or are generally overwhelmed with stress and difficult emotions. I also enjoy working with people who want to integrate their faith into their therapeutic work. I strive to provide a non-judgmental, down-to-earth environment in which to address the issues that may feel embarrassing or shameful to broach, and earnestly want to help you reach your goals, and cheer for and encourage you every step of the way, while teaching tips and tricks that might make the process smother and easier for you. I'd love to meet you!

I help big-feeling high achievers resolve emotional overwhelm, so they can accomplish their ambitious goals with confidence and ease. Despite being eager about their growth, empathetic, and having a dry (alright, dark) sense of humor, when my clients come to me, they're stuck. While therapy has helped, there's a missing piece. The insights they gained in therapy aren’t translating to their real-life problems. They aren’t the confident person they want to be. They're insecure in their relationships. They’re missing out on professional opportunities.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 98660?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
