I was an elementary teacher for 7 years before getting my master's degree in marriage and family counseling. I've been in private practice for 14 years as well as being a school counselor. In addition, I've taught Love and Logic parenting classes for the last 13 years. I work with individuals, couples or families and work well with children, too.

Reaching out for support takes courage, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure or have questions as you begin this journey. If you’re exploring your emotional well-being, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I admire your openness and bravery, and taking the first step is often the hardest part. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth, understanding, and zero judgment, meeting you wherever you are in your healing process. I am deeply committed to helping people heal from trauma, whether it comes from childhood, intimate partner violence, emotional abuse, racialized trauma, or the daily toll of chronic stress.

Accepting in-person appointments. Email for a quick reply. "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated." - Maya Angelou. We all experience difficulties. When life gets complicated, when we are overwhelmed and just need some guidance to navigate our day, when we need to feel more in control, to feel comfortable and safe, counseling is helpful. Every one of us could use someone to listen, an opportunity to speak freely and be supported.

There are times in our lives when we experience emotional distress which makes meeting our everyday responsibilities challenging or interferes with our happiness. Emotional distress may be due to a transition such as a job loss or even a new profession, the loss of a loved one or the birth of a newborn, a relationship breakup or the start of a new relationship, or it could be trauma you have experienced now manifesting itself as emotional distress in your life. There are times when we can handle the negative emotions we experience such as sadness, emptiness, loneliness, or anxiousness and other times we may need some help.

I am currently NOT accepting NEW clients and will reassess in January— How does one stay hopeful when today can be so hard? We all crave connection and can benefit from being heard in a confidential space without judgement. The challenges we face in life come in many forms, but everyone has the capacity to experience positive change. It would be my privilege to hear your story and support you in your current season. I work with teens (16+) and adults, and take a Person-Centered Therapy approach when developing a plan of care. Therapy should be about reaching your goals for life change.

We base our evaluations on the individual. A specific diagnosis along with treatment recommendations is offered. Encountering issues with alcohol or other drugs does not necessarily warrant a diagnosis for chemical dependency. While in the process of recovery we help you determine your life goals and ambitions. It is easy to get "clean and sober" and it is difficult to stay "clean and sober". That's why you can count on us to walk with you on the journey of maintaining a life of sobriety and freedom.

New Clients: Current openings between 9-2pm only. Everyone struggles at some point in their life. Sometimes we are able to handle life's difficulties on our own and sometimes we could use the help of a professional to conquer our dilemmas. I am honored to help people through those rough patches, and at all times guide them in a nonjudgmental, confidential, caring way. I do not take a 'one size fits all' approach to counseling. I will work with my clients to establish goals and how we will work towards that growth.

Sometimes life throws us challenges that we struggle to handle. Sometimes friends and family are able to help. However, there are times when we need additional help. In therapy, we will work together to help you find your strengths to work through the challenges you are facing, that might seem too overwhelming to handle. I use a variety of therapeutic methods to help find the one that best fits you and your needs.

Pregnancy and motherhood can bring out so many parts of you. The one trying to do everything right, the one quietly unraveling, and the one that just wants to feel like herself again. You might be overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure how to make space for your own needs, or wondering if that’s even possible. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, listen to what’s really happening inside, and begin to feel more grounded in this new version of you. My passion is working with women and couples through the emotional ups and downs of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood.

These concerns can be addressed in a respectful, straightforward, and supportive manner. I believe counseling should meet you where you are, which is why I am comfortable providing individual or couples therapy depending on what is most likely to be effective for your situation.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
