All people are one of a kind, but here's where we're all alike: All of us come from a personal history and context: A past that got us through to where we are now. And "Right Now" is where all the choices and opportunities are. Some things we may want to change, other things we may choose to accept as they are. Therapy can be helpful in understanding yourself well enough to know which is which. And therapy can offer some things you may need to go forward with your choices: Hope, perspective and someone who believes in you while you practice believing in yourself.

Many families reach out because something about their child’s learning, attention, behavior, or development isn’t fully making sense yet. A child may be working very hard in school but still struggling, feeling overwhelmed by attention or organization challenges, or navigating social differences that are hard to explain. Parents often want clearer answers: Is this ADHD? Autism? A learning difference? Or simply a learning style that needs better support? Most of all, they want to understand their child more deeply so they can advocate effectively and help their child thrive.

We are living in unprecedented times. Individually and collectively, we face the threat of uncertainty, environmental losses, social unrest, economic instability and isolation. Compounding the problem, many of us are separated from resources that in normal times were there to support and sustain us. While we manage to go about our day-to-day, additional stress may cause increased anxiety, irritability, depression, hopelessness, relational conflict and overwhelm. Addictive and harmful coping behaviors can creep into our lives, serving to further de-resource us. If we have had past trauma, then stress can be further heightened.

You have been through something. Maybe a single hard event you have not fully recovered from, or a string of them that have left the version of yourself you remember hard to reach. Now you are navigating a relationship that keeps repeating the same painful pattern, a major life transition that has knocked you off balance, or trauma that still shows up in places you thought you had moved past.
My clients are adults who are ready to be heard, understood, and empowered as they work through what they are carrying. You are looking for resilience, healthier relationships, and a real sense of control over your life again.

I welcome anyone seeking deeper self-understanding and meaningful change. Life transitions, anxiety, neurodivergence, identity, and grief can leave us questioning who we are, where we belong, and what comes next. Sometimes the patterns and experiences that shaped us no longer fit the lives we're trying to create, leaving us somewhere between who we've been and who we're becoming. Therapy offers space to understand yourself with greater curiosity and compassion, build self-trust, and discover new ways of responding to what keeps you stuck so you can create a life that reflects who you are and what matters most to you.

I know how challenging taking the first step toward getting help and support can be. It is difficult to find a therapist that feels like the right fit, to feel heard and well supported in those initial sessions. As your therapist, I will do my best to facilitate an authentic connection, where you feel seen, heard and compassionately understood. Holding space as you navigate your internal world and the way external influences (past trauma, families of origin etc) impact it will be one of my most important roles.

Maybe you’ve learned to function so well that no one notices how much you’re struggling—but inside, it’s a different story. You might feel anxious, burdened by self-blame, or unsure of who you are. Sometimes these feelings stem from old patterns of survival that now leave you feeling trapped or disconnected. Other times, they show up as a sense that something’s missing or off, even if you can’t quite name what it is. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Since 2018, I’ve helped people untangle these difficult feelings so they can begin to heal.

I believe you hold the answers to the challenges that bring you to counseling. It is my job to support you finding them. I aim to work with acceptance, respect, and trust - allowing our work to be guided by you. In session, I listen both for what is said, as well as process – the often unspoken patterns and strategies of relating. I see mental health and well-being as a sense of wholeness. In this state, the many parts of ourselves are in agreement. I firmly believe that even the most disturbing or distressing experiences are potentials for growth and learning.

Life doesn't always slow down when we need it to most, and reaching out for support takes real strength. I work with adults (18+) navigating a wide range of concerns, from anxiety and life transitions to self-discovery and finding greater balance. Because no two people are alike, I take an integrative, collaborative approach (drawing from humanistic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and more) so that our work together is shaped around you, and not a generic template.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
