I invite you into a safe, confidential, & caring environment to receive help with anxiety, depression, and difficult situations in your life. Many of us long to be truly seen, heard, & known. Sadly, we have spent years accruing just the opposite: feeling invisible, silenced, isolated, rejected or abandoned. This therapy is collaborative and gentle. I have over 15 years of experience working with people, their emotional needs, & their personal journey towards growth & healing. My hope is that you feel my deep valuing of your life experience, a sense of honor for your uniqueness & my belief for positive change within you.

I work with individual adults, couples and families. My commitment to my clients is to come alongside you in support of the meaningful work of healing and transformation that you seek. I value the relationship between client and counselor, and believe it is core to the therapeutic process. Therefore, I am committed to an initial session that supports discernment about whether we are a good fit for moving forward in the counseling relationship. If not, I am invested in helping point you toward others who may better serve you.

I love to hear the stories of other people. Sometimes, our stories are painful, we may feel stuck, or need to make a change because the way it has been going is not working. Sometimes, we need to learn new narratives about ourselves, and stuffing our thoughts and emotions leave us feeling sad, depressed, anxious, afraid, or feeling physically ill. Other times, we need support as we navigate difficult situations (COVID-19) such as a health crisis, the death of a loved one, or working with relationships that challenge us. I currently work with teens, adults, couples, and families.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start. Some are navigating relationship stress, identity shifts, trauma, or major life transitions. Others simply want a space to grow, reflect, or feel understood. My ideal client is someone who's open to exploring their inner world, even if it feels messy or unfamiliar. You don't have to have everything figured out. You just need a willingness to show up honestly, and we'll take next steps together.

I am a neurodivergent clinical psychologist, which means I bring a unique, highly focused, and research-driven perspective to my work. I find great joy in helping people of all ages become more independent, understand themselves better, and reach their goals at a pace that feels right for them. Colleagues have said I am a behaviorist with a heart. Meaning that while my approach to problem-solving is very direct, organized, and transparent, those I work with often describe my personality as gentle, understanding, and down-to-earth.

I work with individuals, couples, and families. I believe that everyone has a story- a story of who they are, what they have experienced, and what they hope for. Throughout the courses of our busy hectic lives, it is easy to lose sight of our stories. My goal as a therapist is to remind and preserve your place as the protagonist in your life and story, as well as assist in shaping a story that serves you- one that acknowledges your resilience, acceptance of yourself, your strengths, and confidence in advocating for yourself.

I believe that therapy is a healing space where we can open up about things that may feel tender, explore new understandings of our stories, and expand into new ways of showing up with others. Perhaps you are noticing patterns in your life that are no longer working for you. Or maybe you are in the process of navigating difficult challenges/questions related to your relationships, identity, or sense of purpose. Carl Rogers said that “the good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” I affirm this belief, and seek to be a therapist who is committed to walking with you toward new directions.

If you or your family have come across challenges you've never had and don't know where to begin... Or if something has had a negative impact on relationships... Or you are experiencing grief... Together, we can find a path that is comfortable and fitting. I work with each client in their own value system to reach goals. I understand it is uncomfortable to bring personal details to a stranger, and honor your journey to growth and positive change. I am licensed to work with clients from the states of WA, OR, and Montana, with my location being in WA.

Anxiety. Panic. Mood changes. All of these symptoms can have a huge impact on daily life. You may feel out of control or like you are the only one going through something like this. It's hard to know which way is up and the first steps to healing can be the most difficult. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though. I can help. Although your symptoms may be similar to what others go through, your course of personal recovery is all yours.

I believe most psychotherapy is essentially trauma therapy. Trauma comes in many forms from single life-threatening events to chronic unmet needs. As a client, we will take a close look at you-in-context and how trauma has impacted you. I frequently utilize mindfulness techniques within evidenced-based modalities (such as IFS, ACT, CBT). I treat adult individuals and all genders, couples and families, and regularly serve the LGBTQ population. I work with many insurances and will bill your insurance company if I am out-of-network. Many insurance plans have partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
