Many of my clients need help with anxiety, pain, bad habits, relationships, sexuality, fears, and phobias. Issues my clients have and specific treatment areas (see my web site) range from tooth grinding, reducing chronic pain, improving performance in sports, stopping smoking, weight loss, anxiety about medical or dental procedures, sex issues, sleep problems, spiritual conflicts, setting goals and addressing mental "blocks," resolving past issues in life, to improving relationships. I help people learn to relax and how to have personal "tools" to "dial down" stress, pain, and anxiety to become healthy, happy, and centered.

Relationships can be hard, especially when life throws us unexpected challenges that affect how we think, feel, and communicate with our loved ones. If life feels overwhelming, your relationships feel difficult, or if you are feeling stuck in the past and unable to move forward, you are not alone. Working collaboratively, together we will identify communication and behavior patterns that no longer serve you and will discover healthy ways to change those patterns so you can move forward, rekindle the joy in your relationships, and experience the life you desire.

Life ebbs and flows, sometimes challenging your inner thoughts, emotions, and feelings. You may experience discomfort or pitfalls so challenging that it may make you feel dysregulated or disconnected from yourself and those around you. Your well-being yearns to be witnessed and explored. You’re aware that something isn't feeling right; it tugs at you as a reminder that you must be attended to.

Life can sometimes sweep us into strong currents, leaving us overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to turn. I see therapy as a practice of wayfinding—creating space for you to pause, see yourself and your challenges more clearly without judgment, and trust your inner compass to navigate change. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, life transitions, relationship struggles, and parenting challenges, including raising neurodivergent children. Together, we look upstream to uncover root causes, shift patterns, and find steadier paths forward.

Do you feel stuck? Have you noticed that past traumatic experiences are impacting the way you show up in the world and navigate relationships? Maybe you have noticed an increase in anxiety or depression and are starting to feel disconnected from your emotions and feelings and are noticing how these are all impacting your day to day life. Taking the first steps to attend to your whole self and explore your mental health needs and goals can be daunting. With support, empathy, and understanding it is easier to navigate challenging periods in our lives together instead of doing it alone.

Exploring your own life and story can be overwhelming, and I am grateful you are here. I work primarily with adults struggling with complex trauma, breaking generational cycles, and relationship issues such as divorce, domestic violence, family of origin issues, and estrangement. These issues may be causing you to feel overwhelmed with depression, anxiety, and shame with little understanding of how you got here. Our work together will be in a compassionate, anti-oppression centered space in the hopes to lead to more self connection and self compassion.

It's become a struggle to express your needs to the people you love. Some days, it feels like you are repeating the same conversation or conflict over and over again. You feel stuck and vulnerable. I understand what you are going through. Relationships can be challenging, with twists and turns that create anxiety, confusion, and discouragement. This may not be what you expected and it can be difficult to remember what it’s like to feel excited and satisfied. I want to help you find the way back to a more fulfilling and healthier relationship. There is a way forward.

Do you feel stuck? Through living our lives, we develop mechanisms to navigate specific contexts, but sometimes, those methods no longer work or we grow tired of them. Some signs of being stuck manifest as complicated relationships, a lack of creativity, loss of agency, inability to rest, hesitancy to play, feelings of overwhelm or a lack of interest in life. Together, we can empower your story and regain movement by having an empathetic witness journey with you, navigate your particular context, the relationships/systems around you, your unique brain and perception of self.

If you are chronically anxious, unhappy, dissatisfied or uncomfortable about one or all aspects of your life, you may need a “compass” to help navigate this life journey. The uniqueness of being a person of color or who’s family of origin is from another country, may also add layers that make you feel confused, conflicted and/or unbalanced with family, peers and even your professional life. You will unlearn what is no longer serving you well. I can help guide you to more clarity and understanding of all the intricacies of your narratives, so you can determine the path you want to take to be a better version of you right now.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
