Thank you for visiting my profile. I provide psychotherapy and assessment services to adults (individuals, couples, and groups) who are struggling to thrive. I help others increase insight into their struggles and make concrete changes toward experiencing a more fulfilling life. During difficult times it is common to struggle with daily functioning while also trying to heal broader psychological and emotional concerns (e.g., trauma, relational struggles, problematic behavior). Therefore, I often will establish short-term and long-term goals, collaboratively with you, so that counseling can be sustainable, supportive, and effective.

Everyone goes through difficult struggles within their life. What you are experiencing is valid and as humans, connection and support can be monumental during those times. To work towards healing and begin to understand what is moving through you. Emotions are energy, energy wants to move, and when stuck emotions cause stress, it’s the energy asking you to help it move. This is what brought me to this work, to make that experience less lonely for others. I will work with you to reflect in an authentic and validating way to begin to heal the trauma holistically both in your mind and body.

My greatest desire as a therapist is to offer a space where you feel seen and heard in your entirety as a human. My hope is to develop a relationship that is completely judgement free, safe, authentic, and sincere so you can dig deeper into understanding the "why" behind self- sabotaging behaviors and thought patterns. Whether you've struggled with a recent tragedy, a relational challenge, anxiety management, depression, substance use, or just need a place for expression- I am here to offer my expertise and walk alongside you at a pace that is right for you.

I have no ideal person who might consult me. I try hard to avoid placing people in theories. What matters is the relationship I will have with you. In collaboration, we formulate the therapy goals and how best to achieve them. Each person brings his/her own entrenched detrimental beliefs, that have blocked achieving such complex goals as satisfaction in love and in work. In therapy, I expect those beliefs to be tested. Where I intervene has more to do with fostering resilience, and with the challenging of fears/anxieties that often accompany the sense of incapacity and isolation.

Healing begins when we do one thing intentionally. So, hi! You're doing the thing! I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, body image issues or general life stressors. Together we will work on building the skillset to navigate the challenges you are facing while cultivating a greater understanding of yourself. My intent is to give you a space where you can say anything without fear of being judged or criticized. I am also the partner of someone in the military and am familiar with the unique experiences of those in the military and their loved ones.

Life is full of complex challenges and opportunities. I help people identify areas of growth by providing a safe and supportive space to process what’s going on in their lives. I help people get “unstuck” in the way they think about their problems and help to provide them possible solutions to overcome the challenges they face.

There's a certain feeling of a "click" when someone really gets what you're saying; that's what I'm always after in session. I'll keep an eye out for your signs that you're not feeling heard, and encourage you to voice your reactions to me and to our therapy. I hope that from a base of a strong understanding, we will develop the space to re-examine some of your assumptions and consider your difficulties from new angles.

If you are thinking about therapy, you probably have already decided on some level that you want to be having a different experience than what you are currently in. You want to feel less stressed, less hopeless, less overwhelmed. That may mean learning to manage your anxiety, exploring values, learning to set boundaries at work and in your relationships, questioning the way that you talk to yourself, treating yourself with the kindness you give to others or finding a way to live with past experiences that isn't so painful.

As human beings, we are prone to intense joy, deep sorrow and a wide spectrum of emotions in between. Therapy is a place to learn how to navigate these changing terrains of life. As a therapist, I will come alongside you to listen, reflect, speak to, and bear witness to your particular experiences in life. I believe many personal struggles are relational and that we experience healing through genuine connection with ourselves and others. I'm passionate about helping people move from a life of fear and feeling stuck to a life of freedom, feeling grounded, and developing a growing trust in yourself and others.

My therapeutic orientation is best described as a holistic and comprehensive approach to counseling. I find that developing insight about the nature of one's problems within the context of an empathetic and collaborative therapeutic relationship, can lead to healthier relationships and a more satisfying life. I tailor my treatment approach to best fit the needs and desires of my clients. Some of these approaches may include: Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Client-Centered, Mindfulness practices, and Strength-based interventions. My hope is to help people recognize that life is a continual balance between stability and growth through acceptance and actualization.

How can I find a therapist in 98119?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
