I know that life can bring hurtful and overwhelming experiences. It is natural for our bodies to disengage in these moments particularly if we do not feel we have the resources or support needed to move forward. Chronic stress and burnout are very in our world today, but they are not personal failures; rather, they can represent our bodies' attempts to protect us, and learning about and practicing self-compassion can offer real help. I help individuals to feel well-connected and more like themselves by building things into their lives that sustain, fuel, and give back.

I recently expanded my office hours so I am looking for new clients, and I do not take any insurance. I work with individuals, married/couples. I believe that everyone generates patterns of behavior from internal ideas and from situations around them. I also believe that everyone grows from their strengths. Some people who experience trauma develop unhealthy coping behaviors, such as addictions or dependent relationships. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be the source of insight and healing. They have a logic all their own. I am honored to collaborate with you in your process, knowing that you are the expert in who you are.

Welcome! Benjamin Franklin said there were only two things certain in life: death and taxes. I would add a third certainty: change. Change is difficult for most people; even positive change can stir up anxious feelings in us. But change can also be freeing, exhilarating and something to be embraced. I hope to help you on your change journey. I work with adults (age 18 and up) on all types of life stage challenges and transitions and the mental health difficulties those changes often bring.

I like to tell my clients, this is your therapy, you are the one driving the car. I am just the one in the back seat looking at the map, saying we could go right for the ocean view, or left for the mountains, which way would you like to go? Together we will co-create goals that will fit your circumstances and where you want to go. You are the expert of your situation. I am passionate about working with life transitions and those moments of, “this is not where I want to be, or planned to be in life, so now what?"

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
