I work primarily with adults, adolescents, and teens. My specialty is individuals and families affected by mood disorders (bipolar & depression) and associated trauma. I work also with individuals and their family affected by schizophrenia, trauma, anxiety, sexual abuse & assault, dissociative disorders, psychosis, and autism (ASD). Counseling with individuals is collaborative. Your identified issues and goals inform our treatment plan. In therapy we will look at your relationships since the complexity and intensity of many of our challenges are revealed and rooted in relationship.
Every individual has the capacity to make decisions to accept and change the most complex, painful, or disturbing challenges in their lives. In the counseling office I will rely heavily on your abilities and strengths, and help you discover these qualities if you have lost sight of them. Sessions will be fundamentally goal-oriented and conversational.
I rely heavily on your hidden capacity to affect realistic outcomes through insight, resilience, self-determination and increased awareness of personal & interpersonal strengths and responsibility. We exist in many states but are rooted in the physical, so I will often direct clients to their somatic, or body responses throughout their therapeutic journey.

Relationships Affected by Bipolar & Depressio
Relationships affected by bipolar and/or depression are challenging. These groups follow a curriculum developed specifically to help individuals and their primary supporter's understand mood disorders, and how to navigate the unique relational issues in context of the disorder. We identify false expectations, realistic goals, and personal responsibility. These groups are unique in their exclusive attention on relational issues commonly experienced between individuals with a mood disorder and their loved ones. Participants gain practical skills, benefit from similar stories shared among group members, and find relief in understanding that there are typical, predictable behaviors and responses which are adaptable.
