If there is one constant in life, it's change; a new job or suddenly having to look for one , a new relationship or a heart break, a marriage, a divorce, life not working out the way you had hoped. Let me help you navigate these uncertain times, helping you to find a way through them or take a new tack or tap into hidden strengths. Sometimes we can change the situation; sometimes we must change ourselves, tearing down limiting beliefs and narratives to create new beliefs and narratives that honor our true self, our true values, and our goals.

You might be feeling “stuck”, or like a part of your story still affects you more than you’d like it to. Maybe what you’ve been doing just isn’t working anymore, and you’re struggling to move forward. In therapy, we’ll work together to help you find meaning, peace, and a more effective way out of the behaviors that just aren't working for you anymore. I’ve learned that everybody has a story, usually one of resilience, compassion, and courage— and my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, space for you to share yours.

The clients I work best with are curious about themselves, open to exploring, and willing to put in the work. They value respect, for themselves, for others, and for the healing process, and they want to feel more connected to their emotions, have the words to express what’s going on, and learn skills they can use day to day.

Are you feeling not right in your body or as if you don’t belong to the gender you were assigned at birth? Are you afraid to come out to someone you love? Did your partner or spouse tell you he/she/they are transgender and you are left with confusion and fear? Are you a parent of a child who came out to you and identifies as LBGTQIA and you don’t know how to process your feelings or take a deeper look within? Do you use substances and feel stigmatized by being called an “addict” with no hope for support? Do you use substances and are not ready to stop, but want someone to talk to that will accept you where you are at?

You get in arguments with your partner that bewilder you. You experience social anxiety and you’re not sure why. Your children are estranged from you. You find it hard to get out of bed. These are examples of the things that brought people like you here, looking for help. You’re ready for change, but you’re just not sure how. This place of longing and frustration is so hard, but it’s also, ironically, exactly where you need to be if you want things to change. I approach your goals with curiosity, prepared and ready to be a companion, but also adjusting to what's happening now and who you are.

Integration of traumatic memories will elicit profound change, and enable us to feel and act from the love that is inherent in all people. I believe we are best able to become more aware of ourselves through studying our relationships. I will work with you to discover how you relate to others; we will study how your brain functions to bring past experiences into the present moment, distorting your sense of self and creating conflict. Clearing trauma can enable you to differentiate between then and now, so you are more free to make conscious choices about how you relate today.

Everyone experiences anxiety, depression, and loss at sometime in their life. Often events and people happen in our lives that cause distress. No one deserves to be in pain and no one should have to endure when there is the possibility to reduce the pain. My goal is to help my clients find relief through self exploration and a desire to want to feel better. My job is to walk with my clients in their path to mindfulness. My goal is to provide a safe space for emotions to be expressed and validated without judgment. Together we will identify patterns and triggers, and create skills to reduce future emotional distress.

All people deserve for their voice to be heard in a nonjudgmental environment through the challenges we face in life. Those challenges come in many forms, they are unique to every individual, and therefore I believe that no one type of treatment model works for everyone. Together we will review your goals, turn them into actionable steps, and collaborate to find methods that resonate with you. I will listen with compassion, empathy, and an open mind. Throughout your therapy journey, you are in control. I will be there to guide you around obstacles, celebrate your successes, and adjust our strategy as needed.

If you know you are intelligent, accomplished and capable person, why there are things you cannot control? Maybe you cannot make yourself fall asleep when you know you need rest. Maybe you have butterflies in your stomach when you need to give a speech. Maybe you crave sugar. Maybe you cannot control your emotions and your thoughts. They are your unconscious, automatic behaviors and they cannot be controlled by your willpower or logical thoughts. This is where hypnosis can be very helpful. Hypnosis works with your unconscious mind, making positive changes faster and easier.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 98015?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
