Do you experience anxiety in your body, causing you to feel tense, panicky, or disconnected from your authentic self? Do you sometimes feel out of control and struggle to manage stressful situations? You may even avoid certain situations or endure them with intense discomfort, leaving your energy depleted. Perhaps you are concerned about your child’s or teen’s anxiety and its affect on their school or home life. Though anxiety is often addressed through traditional talk therapy, a more holistic approach can build confidence to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater ease.

My preferred method of practice and my professional strengths involve a combination of our work together, identification and change of negative thougt patterns, and an exploration of sensations and moods that are assoicated with these thoughts. From this and from the experience of understanding and connection, new and healthy patterns of relating to yourself and others in your life can begin to be established and can continue to grow. You can begin to feel a sense of well-being, meaning, and purpose in your personal and professional life.

Looking for a couples counseling? It's likely that you're struggling with many things in your relationship. It started well but you now have difficulty talking about things that mean a lot to you. It can be frustrating because you both sense that your relationship could be great if you could just figure things out. Both of you have worked on being good people, but something about where you are now requires new skills, a new step beyond. Couples counseling can help you develop those skills and take that step beyond.

I believe that everyone has to cope with life changes, relationship struggles, substance abuse, and other mental health issues and sometimes, finding a successful way to cope with these changes can be hard. I strive to work collaboratively with people who want help to understand the life changes and develop strategies to cope. Therapeutically, I work with clients from a humanistic, client-centered ideology. However, I do not believe there is only one approach to working with someone and instead prefer to collaborate with clients to find an approach that works for them to make counseling a successful experience.

Not Accepting New Client When life gets busy, it is easy to wake up and find yourself not where you expected to be. I help people reconnect with themselves and in their relationships- whether this is healing from an affair, finding the spark again, to figuring out what makes you feel happy and alive. I believe that we can heal from hurt and live a life we love, but we must reconnect with ourselves and others in order to find peace. I also enjoy working with woman who are pregnant or postpartum, as this can be an overwhelming, yet exciting time in life.

“Just because we live in a hectic/ chaotic world, doesn’t mean our lives and relationships need to be.” I work with children, teens, young adults, families, couples and adults. My education and training is focused on working through hard life situations in preparation for the future. I've worked extensively with former athletes on the transition to non-competitive life. I extensively work under Solution Focused Therapy lens, where we would focus more on the future rather than the past, using successful past experiences to help work through current life difficulties.

I enjoy working with couples who are trying to find ways to reconnect and strengthen the bonds they have. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe and understood. I want you to feel seen and supported through the therapy process, and I am here to listen without judgment and help you find ways to make your life feel more manageable. I will walk you through the process of self-discovery, helping you find the strengths you already possess and encouraging you to grow in ways you need. I see the beauty and hope in making small changes that will make your life feel more fulfilling.

Our beliefs, behavior patterns, and perceptions can prevent us from living a fulfilling and meaningful life. Noticing how we think and identifying life values can provide a compass for living and give us direction, away from anxiety and depression. We can be empowered by choices about where our mind would take us.

How can I find a therapist in 98003?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
