It is a great honor to travel alongside a person who has decided to embark upon a path of discovery, whether wanting to understand issues regarding relationships, what drives reactions, achieving growth and healing, coping with grief & loss, or the aging process. I believe that we are all capable of transforming old beliefs into new freedoms, and of moving beyond the patterns we have developed in the past as a response to our surroundings. If we choose to work together, I am committed to working collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals.

Therapy is an invitation to explore past and present experiences in a safe and supportive environment; an opportunity to gain insight into what drives your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. I believe in the power of therapy to navigate challenging times and learn new strategies to help us reach our potential. I see my clients as the expert in their own lives and therapy as a chance to reconnect with their inner resources, and what gives them purpose and meaning.

Facing our mortality can feel scary and isolating. It can feel overwhelming to prepare for death on your own. Where do you even start? Fear prevents us from considering our own passing, and because of this, people often don’t understand their options for dying - how to navigate systems, getting paperwork in place, making arrangements for body disposition, or even recognizing and communicating what types of support would feel best. As a licensed mental health therapist and death doula, I offer compassionate, resourced, and thorough support - whether you're facing your own death or caring for someone who is dying.

Remembering what your last therapist told you, “diets don’t work” interrupts your thoughts that you should skip a meal today. No matter how little you have eaten or how much you have exercised, you never felt thin enough to fit into those expensive designer jeans for when you lose a little weight. You’ve already tried everything from restricting the kinds of food you eat by cutting out carbs and sugar, to going paleo. You grew up watching your mom use her VitaMix to drink her meals. So it makes sense that you thought that eating clean or healthy would give you a sense of security. Focusing on food is a red herring.

My clients are busy professionals who don't have time for therapy but would benefit from the relief it can provide. If your schedule is demanding and finding time every week to go to therapy seems impossible, working in an intensive format can be a much more efficient and effective approach. I specialize in anxiety, trauma and early trauma, addictions, and performance, and frequently work with other health care professionals and folks in high stress, high demand positions. Because EMDR intensive sessions are not billed to insurance, no diagnosis is necessary.

I partner with you in therapy to help you contact your inner wisdom and ability to find your own answers. I see my job as empowering you by providing tools, ideas, different perspectives, and support. We all have layers of grief, fear, hurt, anger, misperceptions, and pain that sometimes makes us feel as though we are broken. But we are not. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the mind to grow and change. We can choose where to focus our minds, and have the ability to override old stories, beliefs, and excuses in order to have the life we want.

I create a compassionate and encouraging climate where clients from any background are empowered with the tools to explore necessary change in their lives and work toward growth and healthy development. I partner with clients in their journey of self-discovery by pursuing healing from and acceptance of the past; cultivating responsibility and building healthy relationships in the present, and discovering existential meaning for the future. Many individuals and couples experiencing issues such as relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or trauma and childhood trauma have found success working with me.

I work with people who are done living their lives in denial and misery; they're sick with an addiction and are afraid that there is no way out. I support people to find their unhealed wounds so that they can recover.

I am glad you are taking a minute to read this so that you can make an informed decision. The type of therapy that I provide is called cognitive-behavioral (CBT). That means that I attend first to thoughts and behaviors and how they influence emotions and overall well-being. CBT offers a number of strategies, including teaching new behavioral skills to promote change in the direction of one's long term goals. I am especially interested in strategies demonstrated by research to be effective, this includes DBT and EMDR. Therapy will focus on bringing forth your best self.

Compassion and curiosity are the starting place for our exploration. Life is inherently challenging and difficult, and we all suffer from hurts large and small, past and present. And most of us are plagued by a strong inner critic who thinks they are helping but often shames and limits us. I feel honored to work with people who are deeply examining the relationship they have to themselves and to the world. With a passion for inspiring individuals to claim their own personal excellence, my expertise is in understanding interpersonal dynamics, and successfully counseling individuals and groups into reaching their highest self.

"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning to sail my ship" - Louisa May Alcott . My work is in service of women and girls as we navigate the challenges in life. Clients I serve are seeking to increase their choices and make meaning; they are on a healing journey using past and present challenges as compost that nourishes the gardens they are cultivating in their lives. I act as an ally and a guide while honoring each individual as the expert in themselves. I work most often with women who are dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.

I help motivated adults learn and grow. My clients value personal growth and see it as connected to the greater good. People who are committed to creating more balance and fulfillment in their personal, relational, academic, and professional lives tend to benefit from my approach. They want to discover what thought and behavior patterns are holding them back and replace them with more effective practices. They expect to leave each session with at least one new insight and a homework assignment that aligns with their values and goals.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
