I entered the counseling field because I like people and have faith in their resilience and capacity for growth -- emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. I see my therapist role as one who comes alongside you, the client, to provide a safe, non-judgmental, caring environment in which you access the wisdom of your best self. I listen, ask questions, encourage you toward your goals, offer suggestions, and gently confront habits or ways of thinking that may be keeping you from greater happiness. When it seems appropriate, I employ my sense of humor, believing -- like Reader's Digest -- that laughter really is great medicine.
I serve individuals, couples and families and have a special fondness for working with older teens and young adults. I routinely see adults challenged by anxiety, depression or low self-esteem. In couples work, I use various evidence-based approaches that help partners constructively manage conflict, build intimacy, and create shared purpose.
