I connect with people easily and children tend to gravitate toward me because I take their feelings seriously but don’t take myself too seriously. I value the importance of playing, creating, and laughing in the therapeutic process. I see the role of the primary caregiver/s as the expert observer of their child and hope to offer them practical tools to help troubleshoot points of conflict in the home. I love to tailor treatment plans around the client's (and their parent’s) strengths. Each person has so much to offer their families and communities; exploring and building on their strengths is an empowering therapeutic experience.

NOT accepting new clients at this time. I am a trauma focused clinician that provides evidenced based therapy via eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and internal family systems therapy (IFS). Our experience shapes the individual that we are. Sometimes these experiences create a wound that pulls and pushes use in a direction that conflicts with the way we want to live. I can help. I am open, honest, and I genuinely care about addressing your wounds. I have experience working with PTSD, addiction, depression and anxiety.

As a therapist, I spend time understanding the client’s goals and intended outcomes in therapy. The foundations of therapy should replicate the foundation of any healthy relationship, built on transparency, openness, and direct feedback so that when success is found in therapy, it can be translated more easily to the real-life situations that the clients encounter. My clinical experiences has focused primarily on children and teens. I conducted trauma-informed therapy in a residential setting conducting individual, group, and family therapy for my clients. I was also an established individual therapist on a college baseball team.

I believe that everyone has a right to live the life that they desire however, life does not always work out how we hope. We cannot predict the events that will happen to us or how they will impact our lives. However, we have the ability to choose how we will respond to those events. As a therapist, I get to be a partner as you seek to change your life for the better. I believe that education, practical application, evidence-based techniques, and a focus on measurable outcomes is the fastest way to achieve the client’s goals. I believe that therapy should only be for as long as needed, with a focus on achieving the client's goals.

I’m passionate about supporting those who find themselves facing challenges which seem beyond their ability to manage, due to overwhelm, anxiety, or depression. I believe that building a therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of the counseling experience. Based on this principle, I bring a warm, non-judgmental approach into the therapy room. I believe that everyone can experience healing and wholeness when a safe place is provided to explore and process your life experience. A place that feels free to share your story, where your strengths are emphasized, and we collaborate to discover solutions for challenges you face.

My primary focus as a counselor is working with individuals in transitionary phases of their lives to regulate anxiety, depression and trauma responses that can occur with change and other life stressors. As a mental health counselor, I strive to facilitate awareness of the mind-body connection. The impact of everyday stressors and past experiences on physical and emotional health is often overlooked. Identifying thought patterns and behaviors that impact your interactions in the world and overall feelings about self can help you to work toward living your authentic life in contentment and joy.

Life is a journey! Do you feel overwhelmed, distressed, disconnected or lost, is your life hard to navigate. I believe that compassionate, reflective therapy can help restore vitality and renew hope. Individuals, couples, children/families, experience emotional struggles and challenging behaviors because of the impact of a variety of past and present variables, not because of weakness. Symptoms/Behaviors are simply indicators of need, and actually illuminate innate strength that guides healing. I'mabout collaborating with you to build strengths, explore barriers to enjoyment of life, and create a joyful resilience.

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Oregon and have been practicing since 2019. Prior to this, I earned my certification as an Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I) in 2014 while working with unhoused folks providing wrap-around services to mandated and self-referred clients in addictions and domestic violence intervention. Over my life and career, I developed and furthered my passions for adults trying to help their families through insurmountable circumstances, such as poverty, addiction, violence, immigration, isolation, medical challenges, the criminal justice system, and other stressors.

What would it feel like to know that another human being is really listening to you, without judgment? What would it be like to finally feel seen and heard? There is so much happening right now, both in the world and in our individual lives. There are so many changes happening so quickly. And in the midst of it all we struggle to have the relationships we desperately want. We struggle with stress and endless worry. Sometimes we even struggle to feel like we belong. If you’d like to work with a psychologist who respects you as a unique individual, and who will work to get to know the real you, then perhaps I may be a good fit.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
