We all have moments in life when we become stuck in unhelpful patterns & have a hard time seeing a path forward toward living the life we want. One of my goals is to help you identify stuck areas in your life & what might be keeping you there, & to work with you to find ways forward that are in-line with your goals & values. I describe therapy as a team sport. I'm very collaborative & find that we often make the most progress when we both bring our unique strengths into the mix. It is important to me to understand your goals, values, & cultural context, so I can tailor my approach to best align with them.

You might be feeling stuck: disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the kind of life you want to be living. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed from high expectations or caregiving roles, or struggling to feel close to others even when you crave connection. You may carry pain from earlier experiences or feel like you've had to hide parts of yourself just to get by. Whatever brings you here, you're considering the brave and vulnerable work of change, and that is huge. You don’t have to go through this alone, and you don’t have to explain your existence before we can get to the heart of things.

I tend to work with a few different types of clients given my specializations. First, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression. This can be adolescents, teens, or adults, and tend to be successful at ameliorating symptoms. Second, I work with families who find themselves struggling. There are various reasons for the struggle, but that is what we unpack and figure out how to best move forward to improve the well-being of all. Lastly, I help people better manage stress, this could be anyone, as we all experience times in life when our well-being suffers as we struggle to navigate a life transition.

I have a practical approach and do insight and emotionally based psychotherapy. I like a variety of issues and personalities. My work frequently includes self-esteem and relationship issues, transitions, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, gender and sexual issues, multicultural issues, acute and chronic trauma issues, and loss. I deeply value the therapeutic relationship and see it as the cornerstone to most of what happens in psychotherapy. I have a growth oriented rather than pathology based paradigm and I tend to really like and enjoy the people that I work with.

Mental and behavioral health are as important as physical health, especially for children and teens. More than ever our children need resiliency and good, adaptive coping strategies as well as access to prompt, high-quality early intervention for common concerns like ADHD or anxiety. To increase access to services, I now offer a new practice model. Similar to the hugely successful Direct Primary Care initiative, my practice will move to a membership based model, where I can provide help more prompt and in a more targeted way BEFORE mental health concerns arise. Ideally suited for young families with risk factors for ADHD.

Now the thing I call living is just being satisfied with knowing I got no one left to blame-Gordon Lightfoot. Understanding ourselves, our drives, our desires, our decision making regarding practical concerns, romance, belonging, identity, status, surviving, thriving, and meaning making can be overwhelming in the theoretical sense. In the reality in which our lives take place theory can only go so far. Not far enough. This is where a process with principles comes in. In life you will confront a never ending series of obstacles and challenges. How you relate to that which you do not control is what we focus on in our work.

By now you’ve probably figured out that running away from the pain doesn’t work. The first step in healing is to accept what happened to you. Acceptance is not approval. Acceptance means having the courage to face reality. Accept the terror, accept the grief, accept the rage. There’s gold on the other side of the pain. Blaming others is understandable, but we have to keep growing beyond that, because the pain, grief, and resentment are holding YOU back. Only you can let it go. Create inner peace and set boundaries to protect it. I can help. P.S. Let’s talk about how to integrate what you’ve learned from your psychedelic experiences.

Many people I work with have been in counseling and are already relatively rooted and resourced on their healing journey but are now seeking deeper integration, expression, and expansion of their life purpose through coaching. I am called to work with people who are ready to journey beyond what is familiar and seek an extraordinary life by unlocking the creative potential of their essential Self and have a burning passion to manifest their gifts in this world as acts of service. Through a potent blend of ancient perennial wisdom and modern healing practices my work encourages both personal and collective transformation and healing.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
