Helping others discover peace, connection, and confidence in the face of turmoil has long been a passion of mine. I believe everyone is capable of growth and healing if they are provided sufficient encouragement, support, and effective strategies. My therapeutic style is conversational and relaxed. I encourage clients to identify and communicate their unique needs and concerns in order to improve interpersonal relationships, manage bothersome emotions or behaviors, and develop healthier family connections. No matter their goal, I strongly believe in the client’s right to decide the focus of therapy.

My aim for our therapy sessions is to help you develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and core beliefs. This increased awareness is the first step towards empowering yourself and moving towards greater well-being. During our time together, we will explore each of these areas to help you gain a new perspective on your life. I also believe that balance is essential for a fulfilling life, and it's common to lose this balance at times. We can work together to discover ways for you to reconnect with yourself and establish equilibrium.

I am currently offering comprehensive psychological assessment services, including Autism and ADHD testing. Psychological evaluation aims to investigate the many different factors that could potentially contribute to long-standing areas of concern or difficulty. Examples of these can include early childhood history, traumas, neurodevelopmental (such as Autism or ADHD), or health-related impacts occurring individually or in combination. My goal is to help clients gain clarity regarding these contributing factors and related diagnoses, as well as receive tailored recommendations for the future.

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience in our lives. I help people work through the unrelenting cycle of stress, worry, and shame that comes with anxiety and trauma. Depression can feel like a weight that you're always carrying. Through counseling and treatment, you can recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. Taking a mind-body approach to your care, you can learn the tools that help you move through these issues.

Do you ever feel like you’re carrying the weight of everyone’s expectations — from your family, your culture, or the world around you? Maybe you're tired of having to explain parts of your identity, or feeling like you have to choose between different parts of who you are. You might be looking for someone who truly understands the complexity of your story — without judgment or confusion. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many of my clients, especially those who identify as BIPOC, children of immigrants or part of marginalized communities, come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted.

Do you feel stuck, confused, and alone in your relationship? Maybe you keep having the same arguments with no real resolution. No matter how careful you are, things always seem to escalate. Avoiding conflict feels easier than speaking up. Before long, you don’t feel like lovers anymore, just roommates. You’ve tried hard to make things better. You’ve read the books. You’ve tried fewer words—and even more words. Yet nothing seems to help. It all feels frustrating and confusing. And yet, you still care. You love your person and miss the connection you once had. You miss feeling like a team and want your partner back by your side.

I believe that we all have the power deep inside of us to make the changes that we want in our lives. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of extra support and a different perspective along the way. My counseling approach is one of care, compassion, and empathy. It is important to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my client, one that feels comfortable and free from judgment and shame. Therapy is an opportunity for expression, self-exploration, healing, and learning new skills and strategies to address the issues that are getting in your way. Taking care of your mental health is as important as your physical health.

I believe the therapeutic relationship serves the client to reflect on their life thus far, identify new goals and desired outcomes and take steps to achieve higher understanding of the self. We will look back at family history and life events for patterns the client may be stuck in. Together, we address the narrative the client uses to "story" their life, observing how language is used in both healthy and unhealthy ways. This allows the client to address those narratives and work to create more productive ones. I am also very passionate about the work of pre-martial/pre-engagement counseling with couples.

Storms serve as a powerful metaphor for life’s difficulties, challenges, failures, and setbacks. We often wish to avoid storms, whether in nature or in life. They test our faith and resilience. How on earth are you supposed to choose something as important as a therapist from a two-dimensional blurb on the internet? Because it's impossible to really get a sense of who someone is from a listing, I invite you to reach out via phone, text or email, or you can visit my website & watch a short video of me & get a sense for my energy & style. Change doesn't have to take years of sessions, but it does take reaching out to get effective help, and I'd love the chance to be of assistance. These are some crazy times! Current events are scary, & the stress can load up on top of existing issues, making everything feel so overwhelming.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
