I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I help children, teens, and families heal, grow, and thrive through a supportive and culturally responsive approach. My approach to treatment is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I believe therapy is a partnership — you bring your lived experiences, and I bring tools, insight, and support. Together, we’ll explore your challenges at a pace that feels safe, while building on your strengths, developing practical coping skills, and creating space for healing and growth. I felt called to become a marriage/family therapist when the decision to change careers didn't make sense. I ran a successful computer company, fresh off of a decade as an executive for a software company. I had a love for the study of people, and relationships, having received my bachelor's from the University of Utah in MassComm with a minor in Psychology. I was in a wonderful relationship, having a safe environment to share hopes, dreams, fears struggles... I realized that not everyone had this support in place to process highs, lows, and to learn to grow.

I enjoy working with teens and adults who is looking for relief from trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. Many of these stressors can lead to a crisis, substance abuse, and thoughts of suicide. Wanting to find relief from these struggles can be daunting, yet it is possible. I believe that each individual needs to be considered as a whole and the therapy process should be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.

My hope as a counselor is to help individuals understand their worth and purpose in the world. Through an exploration of your unique psychosocial history and presenting circumstances, I incorporate evidence-based treatment modalities and faith-based interventions to improve your present daily functioning and future hope. I enjoy working with individuals who want to create positive change. Sometimes we need additional support, or we have tried to change things on our own without success. Psychotherapy can help to gain insight into past and present factors that get in the way of creating long lasting change, and help you develop new and healthier thoughts and behaviors. It can also be an important part of your support system if you have experienced trauma or high stress and anxiety. Whatever your goals, we work together to define the path to creating the life you want to live.

For 20 years, I've been helping people understand themselves better. I work with individuals who often make decisions they later regret, feel emotions that don't make sense to them, and find it hard to understand why their life isn't the way they want it to be. If this resonates with you, I'm here to help. My approach is based on depth psychology. I establish a comfortable, collaborative relationship with you to explore who you are, what you think, and what you feel. By understanding your thoughts and feelings and what gets in the way of being aware of them, you can gain deeper self-understanding.

Life is filled with transitions that often present us with fears which can hinder our growth. We can make these challenges easier to overcome if we practice courage - the courage to be vulnerable, to truly feel difficult emotions, to make healthy choices and live with intent. Experiencing these emotions in a safe and accepting environment can help us move beyond old wounds, patterns and places in our lives where we've become stuck. With compassion and unconditional acceptance, our journey towards becoming an authentic individual is possible.

I believe everyone strives to live a happy and meaningful life, but when faced with adversity or setbacks it can often feel as though realizing that goal is impossible. Feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, anger, low self-esteem, and lack of purpose can negatively affect our thoughts and actions and shape inconsistent perceptions of ourselves and life. Together we will create a plan and goals to help you develop increased awareness, insight, and coping skills, so you may experience greater joy within yourself and relationships.

Being compassionate with our self is important when we undertake personal change. Our internal critic and negative thoughts can leave us feeling defeated. When we're disconnected from our authentic self or from others, we suffer. Disconnection can result from many circumstances, for example living by other's expectations at the expense of pursuing our own goals. Or, the busy pace of life can leave people feeling disconnected and alienated. When we re-connect with our self and other people, we're more able to manage life's stressors using healthy means and live a more peaceful and contented life.
