In my practice, I attempt to address suffering: what makes us suffer, how we suffer, and how suffering can be alleviated. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with life issues and are not afraid to take on the suffering consciously, with my support, in order to transform their lives. I specialize in the treatment of addictions of all kinds, but primarily chemical, co-dependency, sex and romance, and gambling. I also specialize in the treatment of trauma/PTSD, both from current life situations and from childhood experiences.

I am passionate about the impact of spirituality in mental health therapy. As an attachment informed humanist LPCC, I consider the bio-psycho-social-spiritual/existential condition of the folks with whom I work. Empathy, acceptance, positive regard, and genuineness are characteristics I seek to cultivate in my practice. CBT and Motivational Interviewing are the primary evidence based methodologies I employ to be with people in their self-paced, goal oriented healing efforts. Those who want to examine the angst, anxiety, disquiet, and friction in their lives will find a fellow traveler in me.

It can be useful to relax into what happened, how it is and where you want to go. The process of creating self-acceptance is lifelong but making changes and adding support to your internal scaffolding can make it happen. I do not believe people should stay in therapy forever. You're the boss of your one precious life. Learn what you need to learn and go live.

Life is a series of unavoidable challenges and triumphs, sorrow and joys. Encountering difficulty does not mean we are on the wrong path, nor that there is something wrong with us that needs to be fixed. It simply means that we are alive and have something to learn about ourselves and from life. Often it means that old ways of being are no longer working for us. Change can shake free some of our deepest fears and dysfunctional patterns, but it also provides opportunities for new and beautiful growth. When we are supported, we are better able to navigate change, and then we can contribute to positive transformation in the collective!

Welcome! I am here to help you heal and grow in meaningful and lasting ways. My focus with clients is on healing past emotional wounds that are held in the body, as these are healed you can naturally find the ability to grow and change in the ways you've been wanting to. I work somatically (with body awareness). Perhaps you've tried talk therapy and found that it can only go so far. The body awareness work I do (called Somatic Experiencing) is a gentle, direct and powerful way to catalyze healing. If you are curious to work in this way then reach out to set up an intro call!
