You've tried therapy. You've read the books. You're still one tantrum away from losing it and you're exhausted from holding it all together. You love your kids fiercely and somehow you're also drowning in them. You can see yourself reacting and you can't stop it. The rage, the guilt, the anxiety that never fully quiets; you're smart enough to know something needs to change and done enough to finally do something about it. Sister, I have been where you are. As a mother to two and a survivor of PPA and PPD, I get it, I trained in it, and I'm here to help you.

My clients include children, teens, young adults, adults who are looking to expand their self-knowledge, heal and grow into the best version of themselves. My clients look for a safe place to talk about issues related to social justice, racial and economic struggles, purpose, social skills, trauma, relationship issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, faith exploration and other struggles. My clients may be ambivalent about beginning therapy and I am open to forming a strong therapeutic alliance as a conduit for healing.

My clients seek self-knowledge, firm identity, clear purpose, and meaning in life. They avoid cookie-cutter formulas and truisms. They seek authenticity, freedom from self-blame, doubt, anxiety, and depression, confidence during life changes, clarity of purpose, and dignity in a confused and often shallow culture. They are willing to invest in themselves to find themselves. They seek understanding of their attachment style, repressed emotions, unconscious patterns, fixations, blind spots, and defenses.

Engaging in therapy allows us the possibility of gaining insight and clarification about ourselves and our relationships. In a warm and supportive environment, my goal is to help you connect with your authentic self, find solutions to on-going issues, work through emotional difficulties, cultivate resilience, and most importantly, to create the life you want to live.

I am passionate about helping people and learning about their lives. I believe that we are the authors of our own story and it is up to us to bring about change; however, sometimes we need a little guidance to get to where we want to get and overcome struggles that may seem out of our control. I believe that it is our responsibility to work towards our goals and heal from the things that continue to hurt us. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, from all cultural backgrounds.

Therapy is a wonderful opportunity for personal growth. It is also helpful in overcoming common symptoms such as anxiety and depression, for improving relationships and for changing behaviors that may hinder quality of life. It is common to experience hesitation or ambivalence when starting therapy, much like many other new beginnings. I encourage you to try. People frequently report feeling better just by taking the first step of calling and making a first appointment. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which, together, we will explore, understand and conquer the obstacles you have encountered in your journey.

I work with adults who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. Together, we explore what’s been getting in the way and develop ways to move forward. Many life experiences call for extra support. Grief and loss, work stress or anxiety, challenges with communication and boundaries, uncertainty about the future, and unresolved past experiences can bring up thoughts and feelings that feel heavy to navigate alone. Building new tools, strategies, and perspectives is something we can work on together as you move toward a healthier, more grounded, and fulfilled version of yourself.

Life doesn’t always give us time to pause even though sometimes that’s exactly what we need. I provide a steady, supportive space where my clients can pause and explore at their own pace the parts of life that feel heavy, unclear, or overwhelming. My approach is both compassionate and direct. I aim to meet my clients with warmth while also being honest when it matters most.

I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to seek out a therapist. As social beings, we all need support and at certain times we need it more than ever. Speaking to someone you can open up to and trust, knowing you will not be judged, can really make a difference in navigating emotional turmoil, relationships, stress, anxiety, processing trauma, and making our way through major life transitions. At times we may struggle with larger life questions such as, "Who am I?" and "What is my purpose in life?" I am here to help.

If you are living with anxiety, trauma symptoms, or ruminating obsessive thoughts, it can feel exhausting - leaving you feeling stuck in cycles difficult to break. For individuals, the impact can ripple into work, relationships, and home life. And parents of sensitive or behaviorally challenged children can notice overwhelm both for themselves and the family system as a whole. My goal is to make our work together feel like more than just an appointment; it can be a safe space to learn, grow, and breathe out. I work collaboratively, blending compassion with practical strategies to navigate both individual and relational challenges.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
