Often what we are experiencing in our lives - in relationships, at school, at work, and within our families - is a reflection of what is happening inside of us. The thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that make up much our inner world help to create the life we are living in the present. In order to make sense of what's happening around you, you often have to look inside yourself and come to a deeper understanding of who you are in this world. Therapy can be that journey of your inner world.

In-person & Lyra. The day begins with feeling inadequate. Next comes "This will never change" and "I wish I was different.” These thoughts come frequently. It feels like a vicious cycle. Negative thoughts create hopelessness which then leads to isolation and disconnect from friends and co-workers. You find yourself alone at home on Friday nights. The exercise routines are few and far between. You eat foods you shouldn't (and then you feel guilty). The shame comes next. You feel stuck, and the negative thoughts become more intense. You’ve tried making changes but they have been difficult to maintain. So you stop. It feels hopeless.

In person openings available on Fridays in Auburn, CA. Life gets complicated. Sometimes it helps to work with a trained professional to help put things in perspective. Struggle is part of life, but it doesn’t have to define us. It has been my great joy to help clients work towards a place of empowerment and fulfillment in their lives. You may currently be feeling jaded and dejected about the current state of the world. Perhaps you even feel isolated and scared. Therapy can help you figure out what direction to take even when you’re uncertain about the rest of the world.

I am a licensed psychologist who has over 25 years experience working with adolescents and adults. Therapy is a collaborative process between therapist and client. I strive to create a supportive environment in which clients can feel safe to explore their feelings and address barriers that are interfering with their quality of life. I draw from a variety of treatment approaches that match your own personal needs and goals. I believe our thoughts influence our feelings and ultimately our behavior so I also work from a cognitive behavioral approach.

Many of my clients come to me feeling like they’ve tried everything, yet nothing works long term. I believe healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship; one built on trust, safety, and collaboration. With experience providing intensive, in-home, and community-based interventions, I take a hands-on practical approach to therapy. Together, we’ll explore new strategies, strengthen resilience and create lasting change. When hope feels distant, I’ll hold it with you until you can hold it again yourself.

We all experience negative emotions to varying degrees in our lives and that's to be expected. However, anxiety and depression symptoms can become a problem when unhelpful patterns of thinking interfere with us being able to manage the most cherished parts of our lives, including our relationships with loved ones, work, studies, and more. If you or your child is struggling with anxiety, mood difficulties, procrastination, emotion dysregulation, or behavioral challenges, therapy can help you build practical tools and gain a deeper self-understanding that provides real and lasting change.
