Hi there, I'm Dr. Aaron Rosales and I'm here to help you reconnect to a sense of vitality—a life rich with meaning and purpose. I know that working toward a better tomorrow and a better you is tough because I'm also one of those idealists who has come face to face with the painful realities of a difficult world. But hope is not extinguished. Working with me will help you re-kindle that sense of alive-ness in all that you do...letting anxiety, depression, and all those other burdens we carry fade.

With my experience throughout my therapist career life, I find people are able to get in touch with their own voice, motivation, and wisdom when they feel heard, seen, and understood. I provide therapy with love and care to clients and help them see and change their pattern in the here-and-now moment in the therapeutic relationship. When life feels overwhelming and difficult it's challenging to know where to turn for help and support. Therapy can provide a safe place and an unbiased point of view that can help you identify patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck. Change is hard. Is there one thing you can change that enables you to see more clearly? One thing that gives you the courage to make other changes in your life? We can begin this process together.

If you’re feeling stuck, afraid, lost, or hopeless, you don’t have to go through it alone. Maybe hopelessness is a new feeling for you, or maybe it’s all too familiar. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck in your marriage or relationship, your faith or spirituality, your sex life, your addictions, or your sense of purpose or identity in life. Wherever you find yourself, I believe that there is more for you. It is my goal to provide a comfortable and non-judgmental environment where I can help you process what you decide to share with me.

I'm here with you. Few things are more painful than feeling disconnected from yourself or the person you love. If you've tried everything to reconnect with yourself and others, only to end up stuck in the same old patterns, you're far from alone ... and help is available! When stress and anxiety leave you short of breath and constantly bracing for the worst, or old wounds from loss or trauma linger and make it difficult to feel safe or believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel, you can end up feeling heartbroken, hopeless, and exhausted. But the fact that you are reading this now means there is hope. I'm here to help.

Often what we are experiencing in our lives - in relationships, at school, at work, and within our families - is a reflection of what is happening inside of us. The thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that make up much our inner world help to create the life we are living in the present. In order to make sense of what's happening around you, you often have to look inside yourself and come to a deeper understanding of who you are in this world. Therapy can be that journey of your inner world.

If you are ready for change, whether it's related to work, your personal life, your relationship with your parents or your spouse, the methods I work with can be extremely effective. If you're not sure you're ready for change, but want to understand yourself better and become confident enough to explore what change might look like, therapy may be very helpful.

Do you feel guilty about things you've said and done? Do you lose sleep because of these feelings? Would you like to forgive yourself? What about repairing or rebuilding your relationships? We all think about our relationships during our lives. Yet this "unfinished business" can be an energy drain, robbing us of vitality and preventing us from having the life we truly want. Left unchecked, it can lead to depression and anxiety. One of life's most important processes is the act of forgiveness -- a process which rids us of self-loathing and bitterness so that we won't live in constant anguish.

Everyone runs into trouble at some point in their life. When they do, they often benefit from talking to someone who isn't primarily their friend or member of their family, someone who is empathic, curious, non-judgmental, and relentlessly focused on helping you feel better. Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all enterprise, but has to tailored to what you need. Whether it's about simply feeling less anxious or depressed, or mastering an inhibition or block you've had all your life, therapy can get you back on the track you once were on or want to be on.

Silicon Valley can be a stressful place to live. Sometimes, the demands of living and working in this area rob us of the passion we once had. If you are feeling pulled in too many directions...if you are feeling like your needs take a backseat to everything else in your life: kids, work, older parents, spouse, then I would like to help. You can feel like you once did, full of LIFE and PASSION. Running on empty can lead to depression, anxiety, relationship drama, and health problems. You can feel better, even THRIVE, while meeting life's challenges with ease.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
