I work with people who learn differently or are highly sensitive and/or highly intelligent who struggle with anxiety and depression. Some of my younger clients need help with learning and navigating social environments. Some of my clients are parents who need emotional support and coaching for parenting their gifted or twice-exceptional child. I help my clients increase their understanding of who they are as unique and whole individuals, offer strategies for enhancing emotional intelligence, and help my clients gain competency in regulating their emotions and reducing harmful behaviors.
Many clients believe that as a therapist it is my job to help them feel happier. Counseling does not always lead to feeling "happier" but rather an increased ability to observe your thoughts, tolerate and regulate distressing or uncomfortable emotions, and to shift from automatically reacting to intentionally responding.
I have been a therapist for more than twenty years, have extensive training in emotional intelligence, sensory regulation, social learning, and integrate mindfulness with cognitive behavioral therapy for a holistic intervention. I am flexible and creative in my approach to treatment to ensure a meaningful experience for my clients.
