Please note: I will not be available for consulting with prospective new clients or others by phone or email until after July 1st, 2026. I have 45 years experience helping people feel better about themselves, and working through the pain and self doubt that is holding them back in life. We all need a caring, supportive person at times who listens and is genuinely concerned about our well being. When that happens new possibilities for happiness that seemed lost or forgotten can emerge to our delight and relief. For years I've led workshops and conferences at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California on compassion oriented therapy.

I find that people come to therapy when they are having difficulties in their lives such as job stress, problems with their teen or adult child, caregiver stress, sexual and communication concerns, coping with illness, disability and/ or chronic pain, and grief. Depression and anxiety are often natural outcomes of struggling with these issues.

I believe that everyone will experience some level of psychological/emotional difficulty at one time or another in this life.

We sometimes hit points in our life where we need extra support to examine ourselves/our relationships, acquire new skills/perspectives or learn how better cope through a difficult time. It can be intimidating to take this step in exploring your life and working towards change, and I want to make that journey as safe and beneficial as possible. I view therapy as an exploration process, where client and therapist collaboratively work together to create insight and positive change.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, past trauma, or the pressure to hold everything together for others. Maybe you want healthier relationships, emotional balance, or a sense of meaning again. My ideal client is someone who is thoughtful, self-aware, and ready for change, even if they are unsure where to begin. You want a therapist who is calm, steady, and collaborative, and who helps you understand yourself without judgment.

My style and approach to therapy is “keeping it real.” I believe in providing straightforward, thoughtful perspectives to help clients navigate everyday life problems, while working collaboratively to understand what may be holding them back. Many clients are facing relationship challenges, family stress, adolescent transitions, self-esteem concerns, or performance-related pressures and are ready for honest insight and meaningful change. I believe everyone has their own optimal level—when you feel confident, grounded, and truly good about yourself—and therapy can help you get there.
