You were not born hating your body, but a lifetime in diet culture has led you there. You feel stuck in a constant battle with your body & you’re exhausted. The constant messages reinforcing the idea that your body is not good enough have embedded themselves as self-talk. You’re tired of that internal body critic and you want to be at peace with your body. You’ve noticed the ways you keep yourself small – physically, emotionally, and expressively. You’re ready to liberate yourself from unattainable standards, explore all the facets of your identity, and fully embody your place in the world.

What is your purpose? How can you build your life to honor your essential purpose? We can use the power of depth therapy to help you answer these vital questions for yourself. In session together, we work to support your relationships, work/life structure and dreams. One goal will be in you finding the freedom of recognizing your authentic self. I have a deep interest in the power of transitional periods (such as becoming a parent, young adults leaving for college, loss of a parent, mid-life changes and reflections, empty nest adjustments) as inflection points for change. These transitions are where real growth often happens.

You feel stuck because your mind continues to tap into old stories that are creating self-doubt in who you want to be, what you want to do & what you want to have in your life. You’re tired of trying to figure it out alone & getting the same results. You finally want accountability, to learn how to decrease stress & to learn how to reverse engineer your thinking so that you can align with the women & mom you want to be & pursue what really excites you in life.

Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Originally in practice on the East Coast, I've spent the last two and a half decades helping adults, adolescents, and couples overcome difficulties and live more fulfilling lives. Since my days in graduate school, I've maintained a strong interest in understanding how psychotherapy can promote deep and lasting change in a time-efficient way. I approach psychotherapy from the belief that all human beings have the potential for healing and self-righting, and the way that we tap into that potential begins with building a secure and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Our world is full of stories and it can be hard to decide which of these stories truly serve you. The people in our lives may have lots of ideas about what we should think or do, and it can be hard to cut through the white noise to identify what you really want. Do you ever feel so lost in others' stories that you find it difficult to hear yourself? With so many story tellers around you, is there any space for you to be the author? You have a story to tell. Whether you're anxious about a looming exam, processing the passing of a loved one, or just living your life, your story should be heard - and respected - fully.

Congratulations on taking this FIRST step. Life’s challenges can leave you feeling defeated, exhausted, anxious and depressed. All of these feelings can take a toll on our daily lives, sense of self and relationships. However with the right therapeutic support those feelings can decrease or become easier and more manageable. I also have a special interest in supporting individuals and couples who have breast cancer or have experienced breast cancer and its lasting impacts. I’m an out-of-network provider.

Psychotherapy is a journey toward healing that we take together. I believe you have all the resources you need within you. Psychotherapy is designed to awaken and mobilize them. My clients frequently report that in addition to resolving the problems that brought them into therapy - a depression has lifted, a work conflict or relationship difficulty worked through - what has changed is the way they feel about themselves. They feel stronger, more connected to themselves at a core level and capable of achieving their vision of what they want their lives to be.

My approach to psychotherapy stems from a passionate commitment to the process of self-discovery. It entails working to create a space with each person in which feelings and worries can be named and articulated; deeply held troubles--traumatic histories and conflicts--can come to light, be examined and explored; and hope along with ideas for change can be generated. Through attuned listening, fragmented bits can be woven into lines of thought which over time become the shape of a personal and useful story. Treatment combines developing insights into unconsciously held beliefs and finding strategies for coping with life stresses.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
