Are you finding yourself uncertain in these polarizing times? Going through the motions or acting as if you have all the answers, but feel inside like chaos is brewing? This is called a 'functional freeze mode' or burnout described as excessive worry and a lack of desire to do things you once enjoyed. You are able to complete daily tasks yet feel numb and disconnected. I am familiar with the challenges that come with balancing career, marriage and family life. Although there are no "quick fixes," I specialize in working with adults who are ready to look at underlining causes to create healthier lifestyles.

My name is Dr. Detrie and I am glad you are looking to start your journey for growth and improvement. Knowing where to begin can be hard, but the first step is recognizing that something in your life needs to change. I am a licensed, nationally registered clinical psychologist. I started Sea Glass Psychological Services because I am passionate about helping individuals overcome the challenges of life. I believe people are like sea glass: sometimes we go through things in life that can break us, leaving rough, jagged edges.

If you are suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, Borderline Personality Disorder, chronic illness, professional burnout, or other sources of chronic emotional dysregulation, I believe there is hope for you. If you have tried traditional talk therapy and felt like you didn't make much progress, you may benefit greatly from trauma specific treatment, or from a more practical, skills-based approach to therapy like Dialectical Behavior Therapy that is aimed at helping you to build the life that you want, to move toward your values, and to change the behaviors that may be getting in the way of your goals.

My name is Brock Pistel, Ph.D. and I really enjoy what I do. I’m a licensed psychologist in the state of California, working with clients via telehealth. I provide individual therapy to adults experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, substance misuse, and trauma. I primarily use a cognitive behavioral therapy approach but often I adapt my approach to best suit my clients. Rather than adhering solely to one specific theory or approach, I use some of the best combinations of interventions I believe the field has to offer. I believe in using interventions best suited to a client.

Healing ourselves is the beginning of healing others. If you are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, general feelings of unhappiness in your life and in the relationships around you, it may be time to dig deeper into why you feel this way. Many of the strategies we learned growing up to get our needs met keep us from developing a deeper connection with those around us and most importantly, ourselves.

Is it impossible to leave "work" at work? Does it feel as though you will never catch up and relax? Are you going over things in your mind over and over again even during those precious times you have carved out for your “so-called” weekend? Career burnout is real. People-pleasing and perfectionism can keep you in a spiral of shame and constant doomscrolling as you try to escape and do anything to just feel better. You don't have to feel bad - even if your inbox isn't at zero!

For over 20 years I have been using a new type of psychotherapy called lifespan Integration. High levels of efficacy are achieved. It can pull people out of depression & anxiety in only several sessions. It not only works quickly but very deeply. The ultimate goal of the therapy is the integration of the damaged 'selves' to allow the emergence of a more coherent experience. By working with these 'states' of self, isolated in memory, we are able to find, access and heal each representative self that was hurt. We can even work with memories of infancy where the earliest programming occurs ie. wounds from a narcissistic parent.

There are as many paths to healing as there are people. I've developed a mindful, intuitive, person-centered approach to therapy which helps me meet clients where they are at, building an alliance which allows for positive change and growth to be possible. Love and positivity are key, as well as understanding that some healing takes time. My goal is to help people lead beautiful, fulfilling lives!
