We are all looking to live a happy and fulfilled life! But, often, challenges come our way that prevent us from getting there. Life challenges have a way of forcing us to steer away from being happy. We start to look inward and question who we truly are. But when life challenges invite us to look inward, we can either face it or try to escape from it. However, there are many paths that we can take to reroute ourselves back to the right path, and Psychotherapy is one of those paths. We at Stillpoint Counseling Associates would like to help you get there.

Now is the time to focus on growth, healing, purpose and direction in your life. Therapy is a powerful tool for adolescents and young adults when you encounter challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, family issues, substance use, poor self-esteem, relationship issues, + loss. Therapy is an opportunity to find comfort, to build strength and to overcome. For adolescent clients: Life is complicated and the bottom line is that your life can be difficult to navigate. I’m well aware that most young people aren’t thrilled about the idea of going to therapy, know that I am ready to hear you, to respect you and to value you.

I can see that you are in pain, silently suffering. You’ve been through more than most people know. You don’t have to face your pain alone. Healing begins with feeling understood—and that’s where we’ll start. Your wounds can be healed! You may find yourself stuck in cycles of worry, self-doubt, or fear of repeating old patterns. Perhaps you are recovering from betrayal or navigating the aftermath of narcissistic abuse, wondering if you will ever feel safe and confident again. My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive space where healing feels possible and hope can be restored.

Parenting today can feel like walking a tightrope, and the stakes have never been higher. Substance use, social media overload, eating disorders, and self-harm are just some of the struggles teens face, leaving parents feeling powerless, scared, and desperate for answers. If you’re worried about your child’s well-being or watching them withdraw into harmful patterns, you do not have to navigate this alone. As someone who is deeply attuned to the needs of neurodiverse teens, queer identities, and the unique challenges of this generation, I bring a compassionate and informed approach to my work.

Growth and comfort do not coexist. "- Ginni Rometty My belief on therapy is that it takes courage to be open to seek support. I believe change occurs daily, and if you are reading this you demonstrated the first step towards change, and for that I applaud you. For therapy to be effective it is essential to find a therapist that is your perfect fit. I strive to create a space where you are free from judgment, a place where you put down the persona we present out in the world where your true self can be seen and heard. I believe there is not a one size fits all approach, and you are the expert in your life.

Many people who seek me out are not looking for symptom management. They are seeking root level change & deeper integration. Much of contemporary mental health remains symptom focused & reductionistic. While often helpful for stabilization, it does not fully account for the relational, systemic, embodied, & spiritual dimensions that shape human development. My work expands beyond symptom relief into root level integration so you can live with greater self trust, clarity, & integrity. We treat symptoms as intelligent adaptations shaped by context, not personal failure, & we focus on what is ready to evolve.

The therapeutic relationship is what drives growth and change in my work. I do not pretend to know what is going on with my clients before they tell me or believe that I know more about their experience than they do. Getting to know my clients is the most important part of my job. Through getting to know them, we create an opportunity for the individual to externally process what often has only been expressed in their own mind, creating space for exploration and a conversation. I do not know what is best for my clients, but I do believe that together we can illuminate a path to experiencing all life has to offer.

My ideal clients are strong, caring, and capable individuals who have spent years taking care of everyone else — but deep down, they’re exhausted from holding it all together. They often come to me feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, or relationship struggles that have slowly worn down their sense of peace and confidence. Many are navigating infidelity, communication issues, or emotional disconnection in their relationships. Others are simply tired of feeling anxious, unseen, or “not enough.” They’ve tried coping on their own but are realizing that they want something deeper — a space to understand themselves,

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
