If you struggle with a lack of connection, bitterness, criticism, painful growing apart and unfulfilled expectations with your loved one… If you experience distress, don’t wait to seek support. The effects of resentment, contempt, lack of intimacy and compassion, and childhood or past trauma can be tremendous. You don’t need to navigate your healing journey alone. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment and to work with you on addressing emotional wounds. I specialize in relationship distress, and use evidence based therapeutic modalities in my practice. I also offer Couples Retreats: www.couple-care.com

No one has higher standards for yourself than you do. Sometimes the pressure you put on yourself to be perfect no longer motivates you and instead starts to crush you. Maybe that looks like controlling everything you eat, how much you exercise, and obsessing about your body. Perhaps that leads to losing control completely and ending up in a cycle of bingeing, and punishing yourself tomorrow. Or maybe it's pulling all-nighters to get every little detail just right, but never feeling 100% satisfied with your work. Anxiety, stress, depression, disordered eating, and impossible self-standards can be a perfect disaster.

I am passionate about working with individuals presenting with depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, and trauma, specifically developmental/childhood trauma. Aiming to decrease a sense of loneliness on the path to healing, I walk with my clients to foster a more whole understanding of one’s self– integrating one’s wounds, characteristics, strengths, and hard-to-word experiences. Those I work with aren't necessarily looking for a quick fix, but are looking for lasting change to find meaning through the hardships that life comes with.

At some point in the relationship, it is common for couples to find themselves feeling disconnected from each other, stuck in a pattern of miscommunication, and struggling to work as a team. This can contribute to challenges in areas including intimacy, finances, parenting, and more. You don’t have to continue living with this cycle of disconnection and conflict. You deserve a loving and fulfilling relationship with your partner. In couples therapy sessions I aim to create a safe space for couples of any orientation to navigate conflict, improve communication, build trust, repair old wounds, and gain problem solving skills.

When you are grieving, struggling to adapt to a major life transition like pregnancy/postpartum, or working out issues with your faith, you can feel overwhelmed and paralyzed. It can be hard to know how you're going to get through it. Faith that was supposed to be a solace, can become a part of the overwhelm and unknown. But you don't have to struggle through this alone. I can help. As your therapist, I want you to feel safe to work through these things in an environment that feels supportive, hopeful, and genuine. I want you to feel seen and understood in the midst of whatever you are facing.

When life feels harder than it should, there's always a reason. Unsettling events, whether past or present, can make daily life difficult. If you feel like you're doing more surviving than thriving, I'm here to help. I work from a trauma model, which looks at the impact of events on the way we think, feel, and act in the present. Abuse, lack of nurture, or catastrophic events can significantly impact normal functioning. Life gets better, and I work hard everyday to move people toward hope and healing.

Hi! I have a variety of experience working with different ages, couples, and families. Some areas we focus on are managing depression and/or anxiety and developing healthier communication skills. My goal with clients is to help guide them into a more balanced experience on this journey of life while also empowering them to recognize the strengths that were already within them. Lastly, I'm also bilingual so I provide therapy in English and in Spanish!

Living in a world of endless flux can make it difficult to reach out and seek help. I assess the forces that shape our psychological distress and consider how building upon empathy and connection can lead to a healthier state of being. My approach focuses on issues of identity, relationships, race, gender, class, and post-human development.

Let's talk about how you show up every day, giving your all - to your family, your work, and your community. Yet, your past and present still weigh you down, keeping you from the life you want to live. Whether it’s trauma/stress, a relationship with a narcissistic or difficult person, fertility/reproductive trauma, addiction struggles, or coping with the pressures of modern life, it can all feel overwhelming. You hope for lasting change but don't know where to start. Together, we will develop insights and solid boundaries to connect you to what matters most instead of always responding or reacting in undesirable ways.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 92780?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
