I specialize in providing couples with the tools to navigate the "growing pains" of marriage. Whether it is communication issues, high conflict, being caught in a negative cycle or infidelity, I am here to help. I provide you with the tools to create a better, stronger and a more fun marriage! I am solution focuses and goal driven, giving you the results you need now not over years of therapy. Traditional couples counseling focuses way too much on re-hashing conflict, and not enough on the tools to navigate conflict.

In my own journey, I found that silencing myself, putting my needs on the backburner, and living in the shadows was normal. Perhaps you too, have come to understand that much of our authentic selves can be suppressed and tainted by our experiences with sociocultural issues, traumas, anxiety burnout, depression, the multiple demands placed on us, and other stressors that make life difficult to balance. You may have been taught that in order to survive, or even thrive, you had to put yourself second —or last. Through therapy, we center your experiences and unlearn what does not serve you so that you can go from surviving to aligning.

Hi, I’m Stephanie Lanphier, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I help deep-thinking, deep-feeling women reconnect to their bodies, quiet the mental noise, and heal the relationship they have with themselves. If you're struggling with anxiety, burnout, disordered eating, body image concerns, or that constant sense of “never enough,” you're not alone. Many of my clients are sensitive, insightful women who appear high-functioning on the outside — yet inside, they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their own vitality. I believe true healing happens when we treat the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.

There's no rewind button in life, but it offers you the chance to create a different ending from where you stand today. It takes courage to acknowledge that where you are right now isn't where you want to be. It's an act of bravery to face the obstacles and challenges that may have held you back, whether they're related to your personal life, career, or societal pressures. But remember this: within you lies the strength to persevere, to rise above adversity, and to shape your destiny. With each step you take, no matter how small, you're forging a path towards a brighter and more fulfilling future. Embrace your inner resilience!

“Regardless of how long ago something happened, and regardless of how long symptoms have been there, it doesn’t need to be permanent.” - Getting Past Your Past (Shapiro, 2012) Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues or other daily symptoms that leave you feeling discontent, there is a solution. By utilizing a client-centered approach, I meet you where you are from session-to-session in order to provide an environment focused on comfort, trust, and understanding. I see healing as a sine wave, with ups-and-downs but always on an upward trajectory. Together we will walk through your healing.

Being a therapist not only involves the training we are provided nor the previous clients with whom we have worked. In my opinion, it involves the humility to allow one's client to feel safe enough to share the most vulnerable parts of their experiences for both of us to feel connected and moving in the same direction. My style of treatment follows my beliefs above. I will be working to put the pieces together that you may be unable to see. Once we have a pattern established, we will go at your speed, perhaps with a light nudge from me, to discover the origins of your issues.

Being a man, a dad, or an expecting father often comes with pressure to “hold it together”—even when things feel anything but together inside. I work with men who are tired of white-knuckling it, questioning their coping (including substance use), or silently carrying stress, grief, or loss while trying to show up for their families. If you’ve tried cutting back substances, quitting, or “getting it under control” and keep ending up in the same place, therapy can help. I work with clients to look at substance use without judgment, understand the patterns underneath it, and build practical tools for change.

I have a deep dedication to supporting others & my passion for this work keeps me grounded. Therapy is about combining expertise with authenticity, creating an environment where healing & growth happen naturally inspiring change. I strive to be approachable, sincere & relatable. The TCT method is my couples therapy modality home and it's the most moving form of couples therapy I've encountered. I'm a strong proponent & cheerleader of this modality having seen so much growth in my work with couples. Because of this modality all participating members in TCT (therapist and clients) encounter the felt experience of love.

My goal as a therapist is to assist you on your journey of self-awareness and personal discovery. I like to take a here-and-now approach during therapy and I also believe that understanding your present and being able to be fully aware of your thoughts and actions in the moment will help unlock and uncover unresolved issues from your past. I strongly believe in the concept of subjective reality. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clientele and have a special interest in working with young adult females, and individuals and couples in areas of sexual intimacy and general relationship counseling.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
