I am interested in wellness and holistic approaches to therapy. My work focuses on helping my clients achieve growth. Growth can take many forms in one's life such as: improved relationships, improved sense of self, transition across barriers, achievement of goals, career success, reduction of painful/unwanted symptoms, etc. My approach focuses on understanding the core of suffering and stagnation while uncovering what stands in the way of growth. I now provide Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy as a optional compliment to therapy.

I help guys become better men, husbands, and fathers. As men, we are conditioned to try and solve life's many complexities on our own, but the truth is reaching out for help shows immense strength, not weakness. You may find yourself experiencing anxiety, depression, or issues in your relationships. Perhaps you're more irritable than usual or find yourself being "short" with those around you. Often mental health struggles manifest themselves differently in men than they do in women. I am a therapist that understands the unique challenges men face and how to help navigate through them.

Life is a beautiful, messy, and complicated process. Through the midst of this process we lose connection to who we are and what makes us feel alive and whole. To me, therapy is a process of returning back ourselves. To identify what we need, engage in actions that meet those needs, and shed what is no longer serving us. My approach to therapy starts with our relationship, so you can feel safe and entrust this process with the most vulnerable parts of yourself. Through this entrusted relationship we can navigate the uncomfortable and messy parts of yourself and experiences that are blocking you from engaging in a meaningful life.

I work with people who struggle with self-esteem, often survivors of childhood trauma. Perhaps you struggle with depression & anxiety, feeling unseen & struggling in relationships. Or you may stay awake at night thinking of the past, the negative “voices” still ringing in you ears & heart, telling you that you have little or no value. More than anything, you desire to be known and valued for who you are on a deep level, to feel and be safe to be yourself. Together, we will create a safe environment where you can heal and be transformed from the inside out.

You want to be a strong and confident person, but deep down you are struggling. You feel overwhelmed by anxiety that takes over your decisions, behaviors, and how you view yourself. Maybe you feel like you aren’t good enough and it’s debilitating when you try to express how you’re feeling to others. Perhaps you have noticed that you’re neglecting yourself in order to please others, and you feel disconnected from your significant other, or you recently went through a breakup or other big life change and feel like everything that you had planned has gone out the window. You are left feeling hopeless, frustrated, and defeated.

You expected pregnancy and motherhood to be a time filled with joy. But you find yourself exhausted and filled with doubt. You are often caring for others before you care for yourself. You have lost yourself along the way and feel completely disconnected from the person you used to be. A part of you longs to rediscover yourself and to feel more confident in this new stage in life. If you made it this far, maybe there is a part of that recognizes that there is a possibility that things can be different, but, you just don’t know where to start.

Life can be stressful for adults, and children too. I specialize in working with youth, families, and adults to process their past traumatic events and childhood abuse. I utilize a cognitive behavioral, integrative approach, with a trauma informed lens and an emphasis on evidence-based therapies. I know that it can be difficult to talk about these events. That is why in therapy we will work at your pace to identify the impact that your trauma has had on your daily functioning. You will learn skills that help you express and regulate your feelings, challenge negative thinking patterns, and build healthy relationships.

It is possible to create lasting change and build the world you want for yourself. We’ve all done things we’re not proud of, but our pasts don’t have to define our future. I can help you learn to recognize unhelpful habits and explore underlying beliefs that keep you stuck in negative cycles. You’ve suffered long enough. My goal is to help you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and actions so you can begin to make choices that are more aligned with your goals and values. I offer support and guidance by employing evidence-based treatment methods that are designed to move you from struggle to strength.

How can I find a therapist in 92123?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
