I have been practicing for over 30 years in the field of mental health and addiction. In individual therapy I utilize a psychodynamic and CBT approach in which work with clients unfold as a mutual, collaborative process occurring in an atmosphere of safety and respect. I view a clients' problem(s) in a framework that places an emphasis on how their past emotional and interpersonal experiences are affecting the way they are today. I believe that a client's unconscious can influence their inner experience (e.g., thoughts and feelings).

I’m glad you are here! Looking for a therapist means you’ve taken the initiative to ask for help and seek for change. Many people say that they already start to feel better after making their first appointment. Whether you are feeling stuck or blocked to achieve your goals, losing self-confidence and motivation; or having difficulty coping with a recent loss, a big life change; or finding yourself feeling more anxious, sad, angry, or having more arguments and feeling unsatisfied in your significant relationships; or you are interested in figuring out who you are and feel more connected with yourself; I am here for you.

I enjoy serving a diverse clientele, including people of various cultural backgrounds and LGBTQ+ identities. Therapy can be a great place to cut through the noise and explore deeper meanings. How would you like to spend your time on earth? What would make yours a “life well-lived?" Mainstream American culture places great emphasis on hard work, material wealth, and physical appearance, but these values leave many people stressed and unfulfilled. In many ways, the process of therapy contradicts the values of patriarchy and capitalism.

Emotions start as experiences in the body. What makes us human are the emotions we experience on a regular basis. It can feel difficult, overwhelming, and unnatural to lean into these emotions and make sense of them all. A young child once shared, “when you dig really deep, you find stuff”. I am here to create a safe space tailored for individuals. My approach is empathetic, collaborative, supportive and non-judgmental. My goal is to offer a safe , therapeutic environment utilizing various components from treatment modalities to begin your journey of healing.

Most days it feels like nobody understands what you are going through. You are doing your best to keep it together, but inside, it feels like you are barely holding on. Maybe you are struggling to move on from something that happened in the past. There is an inkling that it is affecting you deeply, even if you cannot quite put your finger on it. All the other parts of your life—work, school, relationships—are struggling, too. As you work harder to cope, you wonder if life is going to feel this way forever. You have done everything you can to heal on your own, but you are still hurting.

I work with adult individuals who found a name for their neurodiverse lived experience later in their life as well as mixed-neurotype couples. I strive to create a space in which we can celebrate your unique traits and giftings and assist you in finding interpersonal and professional connections where you can embrace your authentic self. Now more than ever, neurodivergent people who receive a diagnosis later in life are feeling overwhelmed by how to grieve their past of not knowing about their brain functioning. This is where therapy can help - processing your past and looking forward with greater understanding of self and others.

The therapeutic relationship is what drives growth and change in my work. I do not pretend to know what is going on with my clients before they tell me or believe that I know more about their experience than they do. Getting to know my clients is the most important part of my job. Through getting to know them, we create an opportunity for the individual to externally process what often has only been expressed in their own mind, creating space for exploration and a conversation. I do not know what is best for my clients, but I do believe that together we can illuminate a path to experiencing all life has to offer.

I provide individual, group, and family sessions for children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; however, also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness to form an individualized treatment plan. My goal is that you learn strategies to manage your symptoms so that you can be your own therapist by the end of our journey together. Nothing brings me more joy than to witness this transformation and watch people "graduate" from my practice and lead fulfilling lives.

If you are seeking help for your relationship, it's probably because things feel distant, disconnected, or even out of control. You feel like you can't communicate no matter how hard you try. You are tired of arguing. You want to feel close again but don't know where to begin. Maybe you don't recognize yourselves after you had children and day-to-day family life feels overwhelming and joyless. Maybe you've experienced a betrayal and are so filled with sadness and rage you don't recognize yourself anymore. You want to fix things but are afraid of the pain. Perhaps you made a mistake and need help regaining your partner's trust.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
