Are you struggling with chronic anxiety, a relentless inner critic, or the deep-seated belief that you’ll never be enough? Have old habits of people-pleasing and perfectionism stopped working, leaving you stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected from yourself? Our early experiences inevitably shape our present patterns, even in ways we don't intend or realize. While these patterns can feel deeply ingrained, they are not set in stone. Psychotherapy can help you deepen self-awareness, cultivate self-compassion, and break free from ways of being that no longer serve you.

In my private practice, I treat issues of anxiety and panic, past trauma, and sexual dysfunction. While our past can sometimes weigh down our present, my clients and I work together to address, process, and move through issues that might hold them back. Identifying emotions, connecting them to the body, and developing resources to endure the more difficult experiences of life is a primary focus of our collaborative work.

I'm very happy to be taking Aetna insurance and several others, after 20+ years of only taking private pay clients! Some of my favorite populations to work with are: - individuals who would like Christian-based counseling - therapy first-timers - therapists in training (or licensed!) - couples who would like to improve their communication, reduce conflict, and build lasting intimacy - individuals looking for support during challenging or transitional times in their lives

Is life harder than it used to be? Is it time to make a big decision? Tired of taking care of others & feeling unappreciated. Lacking the quality love you desire. Maybe life has you nervous about what to do next, second-guessing. Your work balance is out of balance. Yet you carry it all within struggling with your hurts and desire for happiness. You long for a safe space to be heard, and discover solutions to feel more fulfilled/happy. What if your inner chatter could support you while your worry disappeared? What if you could feel seen for your value, not just heard but understood? What if you truly could feel happiness?

My approach is warm and collaborative. I think that humor can be incredibly healing and I incorporate it when appropriate. I strongly believe that it's the authentic connection between the therapist and the client that ultimately is the most healing aspect of therapy - so my first priority is always creating a safe, cozy space where you can feel seen and understood without judgment. Once this is established, I focus on supporting your feelings, helping you reach new insights, and guiding you toward solutions to help you meet your goals.

I am Eileen Beirich, PsyD, MFT. I encourage patients toward an acquired awareness and management of conflict out of attachment and self-regulation issues. Using dynamic family systems, I begin to review a patient's family of origin story about how life has been lived. I introduce an idea of looking at life's picture like it is a tapestry. A tapestry is constructed of many colored threads laid down next to each other to blend into a picture. Sometimes a person does not have a completed tapestry picture of life.

I'm so glad you're here! You need to feel safe to heal, grow, and fully engage with life. I create a safe environment for my clients to do so. I work with individuals of all backgrounds, and I am passionate about helping culturally complex individuals, Third Culture Individuals (TCKs), global workers, and multicultural individuals navigate the complexities around identity, belonging, connection, and home that come with cross-cultural living and transitions. I know first hand the realities of all that is lost, and all that is gained with each transition, and the combined loneliness and connection of being in between multiple worlds.

Adults looking to create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. Therapy is an effective way to identify emotional and psychological 'blind spots'. Discovery of blind spots enables clients to make real their vision of happiness and healthy living. Depression, addiction, trauma, relationship problems, and more may often be explained in terms of maladaptive responses to suffering. Dr. Cunningham works with clients to explore their relationships, developmental history, and willingness to change. Psychological, emotional, and physical engagement in the world are strongly encouraged.

I believe the body holds the stories words can’t always tell. My work integrates depth psychology, somatic and attachment-based approaches, and the transformative power of psychedelic-assisted therapy (KAP). I specialize in supporting clients who "know" themselves intellectually but feel stuck repeating old patterns in their nervous systems. If you've done years of talk therapy yet still feel caught in self-doubt, people-pleasing, or self-abandonment, we work together to meet the youngest parts of you that have never been fully seen or held.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
