I have been working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 13 years with an underlying curiosity and hope for more in the way of true connection to the self and the other with a focus on trauma and attachment related issues. Connection is much more than problem solving and communication skills, but rather an ability to feel safe, secure and seen. I began my practice in community mental health and and primarily with a focus on trauma of all kinds (attachment, emotional abuse and neglect, physical abuse, sexual assault, and sexual abuse) with a focus on attachment and somatic responses.

Author and psychologist Alice Miller once wrote, “Consciously experiencing our legitimate emotions is liberating. Repressed emotion can be resolved as soon as it is felt, understood, and recognized as legitimate.” Dr. Miller’s words capture my work as a psychotherapist. It is my hope to help my patients legitimately experience their complex emotional worlds in order to cultivate a rich and meaningful life. Although this is no easy task, I offer my partnership on this journey toward relief and healing, both internally and interpersonally.

Feel like you're failing despite your success? People admire you, but you're afraid of what would happen if they truly knew how much you're struggling. Achieving at the highest level, perfectionism and emotional suppression have "worked." But underneath the "good on the surface," you're just going through the motions of life, unable to relax, unsure of the last time you genuinely felt happy. It’s time to stop pretending everything is fine. You're ready for relief, for a way to stop white-knuckling your way through the day and rediscover what it means to truly thrive.

Sometimes we feel lost, angry, or sad about our romantic relationships. I have been using the Gottman Method for couples therapy for 10+ years. This method is based on extensive research on what tools "master couples" use to have successful relationships.

You feel like you’re failing at this stage of your parenting journey, like no matter how hard you try, it’s not good enough. Though you’ve achieved professional success, your experience with becoming a parent has disrupted that sense of competency. Maybe you’re in survival mode and don’t recognize yourself: you’re more irritable, less motivated, and self-isolating. Perhaps you’re struggling with fertility treatments, pregnancy loss, being postpartum, or a new phase of parenthood where your previous coping skills don’t seem to be working. Whatever it is, you’re ready to feel emotionally stable again–and I want to help you get there.

Language & words matter. We define ourselves & our worldview with our words. How do we talk to ourselves? Who or what does our inner-critic or inner-saboteur sound like? Sometimes the layers of “shoulds” in life make us feel trapped, but therapy can offer space to help untangle & deconstruct the “shoulds” to see where they are coming from. The story/stories we choose to tell ourselves & others - that we take to be true - are not always true, or may be distracting us from other possible truths. Noticing & highlighting less visible narratives that align with our truest values can open up new portals & even preferred ways of being.

Our unique human existence presents many challenges that invite opportunities for deep learning, healing, and transformation. When we open ourselves up to the lessons of our adversity rather than avoiding them, we unlock doors of new possibilities and new ways of being in relationships, in the world, and in relationship with ourselves. While temporarily painful, engaging with life’s challenges in this way can ultimately develop deeper inner resiliency, authenticity, and renewed vitality. I will help you cultivate deeper alignment between your values and true desires, and how you can embody them authentically in your life.

I am passionate about helping women to truly thrive and find meaning in life. Being a woman is hard and often comes with many expectations. There’s pressure to have a successful career and healthy relationships, to be a good mom, to look put together, to be physically/emotionally healthy... Many of the women I work with find themselves feeling stressed and overwhelmed to the point that their physical and mental health may suffer. Maybe this sounds like you. You want to look inward, find healing and regain a sense of control. You want to develop tools to manage your mental load and move out of survival mode. You want to hope again.

I’ve always felt a deep calling to help and support others. That feeling is what led me to become a therapist. I help clients begin to heal, find connection or clarity, and take a step closer to their desired life.
I often think of Fred Rogers’ words: “In times of crisis, look for the helpers.” That’s where I feel I belong. My mission is to provide a safe, supportive space where people can navigate life’s challenges, strengthen their mental health, and thrive.
I use a compassionate, trauma-informed, person-centered approach that strives to see the humanity in every client.

Waking up confused and alone, you don’t understand why you can’t get out of this rut. Everyday tasks like laundry feel wholly overwhelming, and each day you slip deeper into isolation and despair. You no longer have the emotional energy to engage with the essential people in your life – and you have no idea why. Your anxiety is constant, and you feel out of control. Your finger hovers over the “delete” button on the dating app on your phone. It feels pointless anyway. You’re so unhappy with yourself right now you don’t even want to go outside. You want to get yourself together, but you’re not sure where to start.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
