Your reach for therapy is a reach toward wholeness and connection in a world that is increasingly divided, distressed and disembodied - a world that privileges toughness, denial and individualism over sensitivity, awareness and collaboration. We receive messages from our culture that who we are isn't enough. And so we spend a great deal of energy trying to be something or someone that we are not - an abstract, ever-elusive someone we think we "should" be. We sweep the socially unacceptable parts of ourselves under the rug, often to the great detriment of our mental, emotional, and even physical health.

I treat codependency...a fancy word for over-focusing on others and under-focusing on you. Letting others determine your self-esteem is a dangerous thing to do. But when you're harmed as a kid, you learn that you don't matter. You come away from childhood with broken "antennae". You don't see unhealthy traits in others. Too much pain teaches you to ignore your feelings and live in your head. It's a trick that gets you through childhood, but it sabotages adult relationships. My passion is helping you use your voice to get what you want.

My ideal clients are those who have a strong desire to become freer of their problems, so they can become the best versions of themselves. I am certified in EMDR and have found it an incredible tool for overcoming trauma, both recent and long-standing. I especially enjoy working with clients who are overcoming the psychological damage incurred from being involved with narcissists, and artists working to overcome blocks to their creativity.

Scanning through this website trying to discern which therapist will be a good fit from a photograph and a blurb is tricky and also a sign of the times. Ideally less time is spent searching the web for answers and more can be spent with a person whose sole intention is to understand the complexities of your point of view, your experiences and facilitate you getting to where you want to go, while walking right along side you. Depression, anxiety, trauma, distorted relationship with food, difficulty being productive; these are all areas I feel confident I can help you with.

I offer in person, outdoor garden sessions and do phone when that's not possible. I imagine you have a feeling therapy can help, though part of you might be scared to try. I laugh a lot with my clients and even though sometimes the work can be painful, my clients usually begin to feel better and keep coming. I work well with creative people, BIPOC, and across the spectrums of straight to LBGTQ - and mono to poly. With specializations in Psychoanalytic, and Jungian therapy, I also draw on mindfulness and narrative approaches to help you thrive.

People are defined by their strengths, not their difficulties. Each of us has the power to change. With my warm and interactive style, I offer a nonjudgmental and safe setting where you can feel comfortable sharing feelings and frustrations. I emphasize helping you make concrete, positive changes in your day to day life. This happens by gaining deeper self-knowledge and altering patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are preventing you from achieving greater personal fulfillment. At a pace that is comfortable for you, I will help you identify major issues that are holding you back, and make real, tangible progress.

Please note: Currently only doing telehealth. "The brave man (or person) is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." (Nelson Mandela) Journeying through life is not supposed to be a solitary endeavor. I have found that in times of joy and pain, it is better to have it shared with others. I value the courage that it takes to be willing to open up and explore inwardly and relationally. I provide a safe and validating environment for those who want to personally grow, explore relationship dynamics, or seek support with mental health issues.

Life can be very difficult and relationships can be the source of much joy, but also of much pain. Talking about your problems with a non-judgmental, understanding, caring, and well-trained professional can help with life's questions, pain, and problems.
I enjoy using a collaborative approach to help people find their own meanings. I specialize in working with young adults facing life's transitions and the accompanying feelings, fears, and decisions. I will work with you to process challenges with relationships and work through feelings of fear, uncertainty, and loneliness.

Behind each difficult emotion or experience, lies a valuable lesson about who we are. In the midst of dealing with the overwhelm of life, our humanity is needing connection, compassion and acceptance. In the therapeutic space, I offer not only a "witnessing" of your humanity, but also a non judgmental look into how you came to be, so that feelings can be felt and not shut out. By inviting these "negative feelings" in, I allow people to be seen right where they are at. This compassionate approach rebuilds the relationship with yourself and gets to the root of change. Spanish & English speaking individuals, couples, families welcome!

You feel frustrated that your old patterns keep repeating in new form. People tell you to love yourself first, but you have no idea how to get there. Maybe you have said or done things you are not proud of and can't let go of the feeling that you are "damaged" or "not good enough". You can see your past experiences with new perspective but can't shake the torment. You aren't sleeping well, eating well, or showing up as your best self much of the time.

**Accepting New Clients** Many of my clients come to me during times of uncertainty and stress -- feeling lost or on edge, experiencing turmoil in their relationships, or generally overwhelmed and eager to find solutions. I believe that our problems have deeper roots and if not addressed can cause unconscious and unwanted patterns that affect our relationships with ourselves, others, and our perception of our reality. I hope to partner with you toward self-discovery, empowerment, self-compassion, and responding instead of reacting from a place of peace rather than urgency.
