Our deepest Self is good, creative and generative; we are beautiful and resilient beings, an integration of body, mind, spirit, and ancestry. Yet sometimes life’s challenges sabotage our joy or interrupt our purpose, leaving us feeling anxious, grieved, or manifesting destructive thought and behavioral patterns. These challenges are the daily demands of navigating our chaotic world, but sometimes include other traumas such as violence, abuse, or family and inter-generational wounds.

Life has become harder, even stranger to comprehend in recent years. We have to adapt so frequently, that our minds and emotions may struggle to keep up with the constant change required. Life's uncertainty could lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, or even hopelessness. You may also find yourself struggling with sleep, focus of attention, and keeping up with day-to-day tasks. This can also affect our relationships. You are not alone if this is what you are experiencing!

I have a deep passion for helping people find liberation from concerns that bring them to therapy. Understanding why we do things the way we do them is critical to growth, change and healing. I ground my work in warmth, compassion, authenticity and an understanding of how thoughts and emotions relate to neuro/physiological processes, as well as how past experiences inform current beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. My aim is to help you gain clarity into underlying causes of problems, provide strategies for coping and support you in taking risks and trying new ways of being, to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Meaningful change happens when we feel supported, confident, & ready. My process helps people clearly define what they really want in their lives & then supports them on that journey. Old limiting beliefs, often born out of trauma, can keep us stuck in a cycle of unhappiness. Together we will build a safe relationship so you can explore what no longer serves you. Doing this in a safe relationship allows your brain to create new neuropathways & your body to release trauma. Through mindfulness, body awareness, & compassionate analysis we will deepen the mind-body connection so you can find the inner space you need to make real change.

My experience includes working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse, among other victimizations. Hello and welcome! I view mental health and its importance the same way that I view getting my car serviced; sometimes you go in just for a tune up and other times it requires more serious work. Either way, the service is beneficial and things start working a lot smoother afterwards. My goal is to create an environment that is safe and non-judgemental so clients feel comfortable disclosing whatever is on their hearts and minds. Clients come to me with a variety of concerns/needs ranging from relationship issues, stress, anxiety to simply needing a sounding board. Whatever the concern may be, you are welcome.

I come from the heart. I'm here to help you feel safe and secure. I am here to go on a journey with you to find your true self, to lift depression, to work with anxiety, and transform this time of crisis into stronger relationships and more heart-felt productivity. As a gay, Jewish man, I have an ear for all people struggling with difference and oppression. I can go deep with you into healing old trauma. Or I can help you coach you with day-to-day career and relationship challenges. If you need a therapy to jump-start new growth in the New Year, I am here for you on that quest of both self-discovery and seeing more palpable results.

Many people experience recurrent forms of depression and anxiety. Sometimes symptoms can become so consistent it’s hard to remember how things felt without them.

I treat clients with a wide variety of problems that impact their relationships, functioning, and personal growth. My areas of emphasis include depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD/trauma recovery, workplace stress, life and career transitions, and creative issues/artist support (I work with many entertainment professionals). We collaborate to explore how past and present relationships and experiences reflect unconscious patterns that create internal conflicts which in turn may impede us, make it difficult to stop our impulses, or cause suffering. The goal is to illuminate and work through this material to achieve positive change.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
