Finding a therapist who truly understands the cultural, professional, and relational layers of your life can feel exhausting. As a Black therapist in Los Angeles, I know firsthand how navigating career, identity, and relationships as a POC can carry both pride and pressure. I work with BIPOC individuals who are feeling stretched thin - whether that looks like career burnout, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from themselves outside of work. I also support couples, including interracial couples, who want help improving communication, understanding each other more deeply, and feeling more connected.

Most of us come into therapy seeking change. Maybe we hurt too much, feel lonely, depressed, anxious, or hate our job. Our relationship might be faltering or we're feeling overwhelmed by the family. What I've learned is that we come into therapy thinking that we have one story, or narrative, and that narrative is set and fixed. I believe we've forgotten that we have a multitude of stories, or alternative narratives. Those alternative narratives can be discovered and shed light on new options and possibilities, while expanding our understanding of what we once believed was unalterable.

I help creative adults, couples, and adult families overcome past trauma and foster healthy relationships. As human beings, something unique within us strives for growth, healing, and connection. A strong therapeutic relationship can foster greater compassion, insight, and joy that enhances our quality of life. At times, we may struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, trauma, creative struggles, or a lack of purpose. Psychotherapy can be a safe and brave space to better know ourselves and improve our connection to those we love and the greater world.

My focused, in-person psychotherapeutic work seeks to facilitate internal emotional awareness as a doorway to inner clarity, while navigating life’s obstacles and transitions. By attending to the mind, emotions, and spirit, threads can emerge which lead back into our history, offering deeper self-understanding and perhaps facilitating shifts to behavioral patterns which no longer serve us. I work with clients on issues such as family of origin, spirituality, existential concerns, neurodiversity, partner relationships and sexuality, as well as gender considerations. I also work with those struggling with addiction and trauma.

I look forward to working with people interested in examining their past, present and future in hopes of finding greater meaning in, and understating of, all three of those aspects of their lives. Therapy can be scary, and is not without its risks, but I will provide a safe and non-judgmental container for the process. My passion is helping people interested in the examined life, and I bring much experience, both clinical and life experience, to this shared journey ahead.

You’ve achieved a lot—but it still doesn’t feel like enough. A successful career, advanced degrees, and a life that checks all the boxes. But deep down, it’s not working. Something feels off—disconnected, unfulfilled, stuck. This isn’t a sign of failure. It’s a sign that you’re ready for something deeper. In our work together, we’ll get to the root of symptoms and patterns like anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or recurring relationship challenges. These behaviors begin as adaptive strategies in childhood—but now, they’re holding you back.

No matter how many times you have the same argument, you and your partner can’t seem to get through to one another. You care about each other, but these days you can’t talk about anything without it turning into a fight. A comment about chores or finances spirals out of control, and somehow you both end up feeling misunderstood, criticized, and alone. Maybe you’ve already tried couples therapy—maybe more than once—without success. It’s left you both wondering why no amount of talking has changed the cycle you’re stuck in. I believe with the right tools and a willingness to do the work, there’s hope for your relationship to heal.

I work with couples, often parents, who deeply desire to enjoy their lives together, but find conflict is holding them back. They often struggle to divide responsibilities in a way that seems "fair," and see resentment and blame creeping into their relationships. Many of my clients find themselves caught in cycles of conflict, repeating the same arguments again and again. Despite these challenges, they often hold onto a hope that things can be different. I see my work as helping clients re-create relationships that are strong enough to support them even in the most difficult of times.

You, like many men today, may feel stuck, burned out, or disconnected—from others and, most importantly, from yourself. You are fed up with repeating patterns that feel self-destructive. You are tired of being so reactive to the same triggers. You are ready for change, for relationships that fill your cup, and for a life that is purposeful and passionate. And you are probably totally overwhelmed right now. I get it. Wading through pages of therapist bios when you're already stressed, sad, and/or confused can be kind of the worst thing ever. But I'm here to help! I support clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, relationship issues, low self-esteem, stress and lack of clarity that big life transitions can kick up.

I see therapy as a partnership built on trust, compassion, and curiosity. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring whatever is present for you—whether that’s difficult emotions, patterns that hold you back, past experiences, or questions about who you are and what you want. I work collaboratively with clients to uncover what may be hidden, challenge limiting beliefs, and open new perspectives. Engaging in this process can bring greater clarity, confidence, and peace, while helping you move toward a more authentic and grounded sense of self in both life and relationships.

At times, life can pull you far away from yourself. You may find yourself feeling anxious, emotionally heavy, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You might be used to pushing through, staying strong, or caring for everyone else while quietly carrying so much on your own. Therapy offers a space to slow down, turn inward, and begin healing with more intention and self-compassion. My hope is to help you better understand yourself, move through what feels heavy, and reconnect with the parts of you that feel grounded, clear, and whole. This is the work of coming home to yourself.

Since your trauma, whether from the past or recent, you feel like all your energy goes toward simply getting through the day, leaving you far away from the life you want to be living. You feel things too much, or not at all. You learned early to keep everyone around you okay, because if they were okay, you were safer; and now you realize you never got a chance to discover who you are. And deep down, you believe that you are damaged, and both too much and never quite enough for others. After everything you’ve been through, you want more than just surviving. If you're seeing this in your child or teen, you're in the right place too.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
