The teen and pre-teen years are some of the best of a person's life. They can also be some of the most challenging. Teens are in a developmental period where distancing from the wisdom of parents is natural, but also scary. When that distance becomes more of a wedge, that's where I can help. Adolescents don't always have the ability to make good decisions for themselves AND they don't like others making those decisions for them. Therapy can be a place of connection and guidance that both children and their families are looking for.

I believe our relationship with ourself impacts all other relationships in our life, hence making it the most important one to focus on. I work with adults and teens who are experiencing stress, intense anxiety, depression, and grief. My practice is grounded in a person-centered approach and I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and extreme anxiety, starting by creating an atmosphere of safety. I strive to meet your "survival" strategies with validation and kindness as we explore positive changes that you want to make in your life.  My approach is primarily based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with emphasis on mindfulness-based and integrative strategies.

Curveballs can be much easier if you have a person who believes in you, your strengths, and your abilities along the way. As a therapist, I believe we all have endless strengths, we are here, at this moment getting what we need and using our skills to do that. A lot can be said for showing up. We can only go up from here and learn even more skills to improve our lives. That is what therapy can do. Whether these things are big or small, growth is good and you deserve it. Change can be difficult in any type of situation. Add trauma into that and it can feel as if we are drowning in emotions, thoughts and physical sensations. The reality is that we as human beings will always feel emotional pain of some sort, whether it be by losing a loved one, not getting a promotion, not passing a test, getting in an argument with your partner, struggling with past abuse.....I can go on and on. What happens is that much of the time we turn that pain into completely normal suffering and sometimes get stuck there with no relief. We can work in getting unstuck together and finding that overall relief our bodies need.
