Do you feel trapped by anxiety, worry, or intrusive thoughts that just won't go away? Even if you're usually rational and thoughtful, you might find yourself getting caught up in endless "what-if" scenarios, spending hours checking, analyzing, and seeking reassurance. These thoughts may have caused you to avoid people and activities you used to enjoy, leaving you feeling frustrated, confused, and overwhelmed. You might even worry that these thoughts define you or could lead to something catastrophic. But you don't have to live like this. You're ready to break free and focus on the things that matter most to you.

I typically collaborate with adolescents and young adults looking to feel understood and, in turn, better understand themselves. Clients I work with often have high emotional sensitivity and experience depression, anxiety, mood lability, grief, trauma, spirituality issues, and relational conflict. Together, we learn tools to increase self-validation, make behavioral changes, and reenvision life's experiences. Clients find they develop skills to cope with strong emotions, improve their emotional expression with others, and experience genuine, authentic connection.

Change can be difficult in any type of situation. Add trauma into that and it can feel as if we are drowning in emotions, thoughts and physical sensations. The reality is that we as human beings will always feel emotional pain of some sort, whether it be by losing a loved one, not getting a promotion, not passing a test, getting in an argument with your partner, struggling with past abuse.....I can go on and on. What happens is that much of the time we turn that pain into completely normal suffering and sometimes get stuck there with no relief. We can work in getting unstuck together and finding that overall relief our bodies need.

Sometimes when all the doors seem closed it becomes hard to dream. I believe therapy has the power to help us find an open door and begin to believe again. I work from a strengths-based perspective because I firmly believe in the power of positivity as well as every person's inherent ability to find and enact their own solutions.

It takes courage to open the door to change and possibility. While therapy isn't necessarily magic, it can do remarkable things for those who are ready to make changes. I believe in "human first, therapist second" and bring warmth, openness, and compassion to the therapeutic relationship. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, child and pregnancy related grief and loss, and trauma. I am an eco aware practitioner. I help my clients connect with themselves whatever season they are in, engage in self-discovery, develop radical self-compassion & find meaning. I utilize somatics, mindfulness, parts work, and ACT.

Although I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and substance use concerns, I do not see the individual that walks into my office as a diagnosis or set of problems. Alternatively, I seek to empower individuals to identify their own strengths, problem-solve ways to overcome obstacles, and begin moving in the direction of their values. I do this by providing a compassionate, culturally-sensitive space to process hardship and begin to rebuild a sense of self-compassion and identity.

As a psychotherapist, I know that all humans have ups and downs and that life is not always easy. If you find yourself feeling anxious and stressed out often, not able to enjoy life’s little moments, needing support with a big change or you have a general feeling of being stuck, therapy with me could be right for you. I recognize how important talk-therapy can be as I have experienced these all too common situations myself. I believe when seeking out a therapist, being able to relate is a key factor in success.

I am currently accepting new clients. I am pleased and honored to have availability to assist more clients during these challenging times. I don't know if I am the right therapist for you, but we can find out together. I am compassionate and warm. I see the humanity, vulnerability and courage in all of us. Shame often prevents us from taking the steps that we need to take to be more aligned with our life paths. Together we can break down the obstacles that are preventing you from your full potential. Our work together will be about integration of self not the avoidance of our unwanted or wounded parts.

When any type of mental health or emotional concern affects daily life and function, seeing a therapist can be a source for self-care. Therapy can help you learn about what you're feeling, why you might be feeling it, and how to cope.

Maybe you’re walking through life, going through the motions, and struggling to see why you keep going. Your mind races in circles. You’re easily irritated, angry, and panic. Or maybe you are struggling to fully embrace life in the ways you previously did. Anxiety is preventing you from being your true self. You try so hard but can’t get it right. It’s exhausting and you’re expected to do it all again tomorrow. What’s the point? Change, that’s impossible!

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
