As human beings, being connected is one of our primary needs. When we lose connection (for some it never happened in the beginning); life seems to spiral in uncomfortable directions. Fear, anxiety, relationship conflict, loneliness, depression, and grief make it difficult to find purpose; to develop sustainable relationships; and to navigate our complicated lives.

Tired of talk therapy? My clients tend to be highly sensitive people who feel that their life purpose is being blunted by an internal issue, usually involving early life trauma. They want to resolve these limitations deeply and for real, working from the inside out. They are often therapists, coaches, artists, teachers, spiritual practitioners and other types of healers. They feel called to make an impact on the world and fulfill their soul's calling. They are ready for a life-transforming type of work. They are seeking an experienced, mature therapist who can intuitively tune in and support their psycho-spiritual unfoldment.

I view clients from an 'already whole' perspective where clients can uncover their natural wisdom, inherent health and develop the skillful means to make conscious and positive life choices. I use mindfulness techniques and meditation to help create space and clarity. All people are seen as Basically Good, Kind, Strong and Wise.

I work mostly with adolescents aged 14+ as well as adults up to age 50. Much of what clients are looking for in counseling is a safe space where they can explore and process their trauma that has led to PTSD, depression, anxiety, or other disorders. The common goal tends to be symptom management and/or relief for most adults. For teens it can be important to have an adult outside of the home and outside of school who can listen empathically and objectively to what they’re experiencing, help with techniques in emotional regulation, and offer a safe space to discuss fears. With client-centered therapy a lot of this can be possible.

I’m a New Mexico transplant from Washington State and received my master’s in counseling through Adams State University. I work at an agency in Albuquerque, Age to Age Counseling. My areas of clinical focus are LGBTQIA+ (stigma, identity exploration, etc.), negative self-view/perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and shame. As a therapist, I believe that I am in a unique position to facilitate healing, promote personal growth and esteem, and teach effective "life skills". I encourage my client to discover and build upon their strengths, which empowers them to move forward to lead constructive and satisfying lives. I recognize that making the decision to come to therapy, whether it be in an crisis, or to address long standing concerns, can be difficult. The environment I provide for my clients conveys an attitude of respect that not only reflects that awareness but also facilitates the development of trust.

Psychotherapy is a partnership with the goal of exploring who you are, what you want, and what is getting in your way. But how does it work? First, engaging in psychotherapy gives you the rare opportunity for another human being to focus entirely on you which can be healing in itself. And if that person is specifically trained to know what questions to ask and when to challenge and confront and when to support and encourage, then the possibilities for growth are endless.

People describe you as sensitive, intense, or too analytical. You notice small shifts in tone or energy that others miss, replay conversations long after they end, feel emotionally drained from trying to navigate environments that never feel quite built for you, and chronically self-monitor. It's exhausting. Often, there is nothing obviously wrong on the outside—yet internally, life feels hard as you understand yourself intellectually but still feel stuck emotionally. If you identify as highly sensitive, emotionally or sensorily attuned, neurodivergent, or simply different in ways that have been difficult to name, let’s talk.

I absolutely love trees! (made you look, lol). Seriously though, I do love trees & their similarities to us. They provide beauty, shade, healing, & support, all while remaining rooted. I view therapy as a branch of support, much like the sturdy limbs of a tree. Just as trees grow & change with the seasons, I believe therapy can help individuals & families navigate the various seasons of life, providing support & guidance along the way. For the past 25 years, I've specialized in working with children, adolescents & their families from diverse populations. It takes courage to seek support & strength to follow through.

Hello, my name is Ryan. My approach to mental health is to provide you with a space to process difficult issues, help guide you through the processing and help teach skills needed for the reduction of symptoms through a Dialectal Behavioral Approach while still utilizing skills from other approaches such as Gestalt, Behaviorism, and Existentialism. As a United States Air Force Veteran, I still uphold the core values distilled in me through my time in service: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.
