I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I obtained my B.A. in psychology from Southern Illinois University. My interest in male/female relationships led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. But I don’t only work with families. Families are comprised of two individuals who were reared in his/her family of origin from which they developed their worldview and values. Two unique individuals come together, bringing their experiences with them into the relationship. These differences can result in conflict. My job is to help them see how the conflict arose and constructive ways to resolve

Years ago, when I began the journey to become a therapist, I found a letter written by my younger (8y/o) self. The letter said, "when I grow up I want to be a person that helps others, like a psychiatrist, a teacher or run a daycare." This letter is now on my wall in a frame to remind me everyday of the innocence of our youth. My drive rises from a place where we all have insecurities and we rise above and beat them. If it is from our trials that we learn how strong we can truly be.

Welcome. Are you seeking support to heal, recover, grow, make a change-maybe all of the above? You've taken an important step in seeking therapy and finding the right provider is key. New Mexico is my home and I am a local (ABQ), independent, solo practitioner. I work from three core beliefs: The first is that you have inner wisdom and resources to heal, find balance, and achieve your goals. The second is that my role as your therapist is to be your trusted collaborator in this process. The third is that psychotherapy is the space and alliance that we hold uniquely together and especially for you to do this work.

Are you a man struggling to meet the expectations placed on you—by others or by yourself? Or are you someone who loves a man who seems distant, overwhelmed, or stuck? Whether you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or unhealthy habits, you’re not alone. Many men are taught to suppress their emotions, “power through” pain, or avoid vulnerability altogether. But that doesn’t mean they don’t want connection, meaning, or change. Life transitions—in work, health, or relationships—can crack open and lay bare these old patterns and offer a chance to grow.

Many clients carry a quiet weight, a sense that some part of you is unheard, perhaps even within yourself. I know what it's like to hold it all in until your body speaks for you. My practice bridges Western clinical models with ancient healing wisdom, creating a centered, sacred space where every part of you: mind, body, spirit: is invited to find its voice. As a Chicano, detribalized Indigenous therapist, I help you navigate complex transitions, heal from racial stress and intergenerational trauma, and integrate profound experiences, including psychedelic journeys.

Life can be confusing, overwhelming, and really hard. Maybe your child or teen is struggling with big emotions, anxiety, or challenges at school or home. Maybe you or your family are caught in patterns shaped by past trauma, or trust and boundaries feel difficult. Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. Therapy can be a place to do just that and to gently work on breaking old cycles, making sense of emotions, and building self-compassion, stronger identity, and more connection in your life and family.

Trauma can leave us feeling isolated, broken, damaged, unable to stand up for ourselves and disconnected in our most intimate relationships. It may feel like the past has a hold on you, as if nothing can change the person that you've become as a result of the horror you faced. Imagining a healed version of yourself may even feel unattainable, but you are tired of feeling triggered, fearful and hopeless. You know that change is possible and are ready to stop allowing your past to dictate who you become in the future. You want to discover their true potential, and take the lead in living your best life.

I want you to know that change is possible and I usually like to say that the will to change gets you halfway there. If you’re feeling like something needs to shift- whether it’s healing a painful past, increasing self-awareness, or living up to your full potential- you’re already on the path.

Even if things look fine from the outside and you’re the kind of person who handles a lot, inside you might feel exhausted and emotionally drained. You may have thoughts or experiences you don’t feel comfortable sharing with anyone, not even close family or friends. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I work with high-functioning individuals who feel stuck beneath the surface, people who are outwardly capable but inwardly overwhelmed. Many of my clients come to me battling overthinking, emotional fatigue, shame, anxiety, perfectionism, procrastination, panic, ADHD, or the lingering effects of complicated family dynamics.

It takes courage and strength to reach out and seek a new perspective, and sharing our stories of personal trauma can lead to improved sense of well-being. The simple act of doing so can empower you to take the next step toward change and healing for you and your loved ones. An immediate sense of change is possible by merely taking the first step toward a new, healing relationship. I collaborate with my clients in a non-judgmental and respectful manner, working to accomplish their goals.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
