The therapeutic relationship seeks to establish safety and provide a calm, comfortable, open-minded, caring environment to problem solve, develop coping and self-care skills, encourage healthy relationships, facilitate growth, self-acceptance, explore past experiences, process trauma, and assist in finding greater meaning and purpose. I actively seek to listen with compassion, humility, and understanding, encouraging a gentle hope, to assist and empower you with the knowledge and skills needed for positive growth and lasting change.
My approach is person-centered, solution-focused, and strength-based, utilizing my training in CBT, EMDR, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. My experience is in helping individuals struggling with PTSD, trauma, substance use, addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and life transitions.
My background in human services began in 1994. Prior to that I spent several years teaching in Japan. I've worked in a community mental health setting since 2010. I consider it a great privilege to assist individuals in healing and reaching their personal goals. I appreciate your consideration of allowing me to put my training/experience to work for you.
